Tamar Braxton’s fans are concerned after the R&B singer said she woke up in a pool of blood on Sunday. In an emotional post on her Instagram Story, Tamar, 48, explained that she “almost died” and she was found in a pool of blood with a fractured nose, missing teeth, and loss of mobility.
“I struggled to write this but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can’t even really talk anymore,” she wrote. “I’m so weak. I almost died Sunday. I was found in a pool of blood from my friend with a face injury. As the days go by the worse it is.”
She continued: “I fractured my nose, lost some teeth and mobility. The way I look at life now is totally different. As my health is on the mend, my mental journey begins. Pray for me for real [broken heart emojis].”
Tamar’s fans don’t know what to think about this latest bizarre episode in her life. Some people speculate that she possibly injured herself while in a drunken stupor.
Tamar has a history of drug and alcohol abuse.
While promoting her 2023 single “Change,” the reality star shared a message with her Instagram fans about her struggle with alcoholism.
“I actually don’t often get drunk,” she explained in a video at the time. “That’s a fun fact. Yeah, I don’t like to be out of control.”
However, in July 2020, she allegedly attempted suicide. According to reports from The Blast, the “Celebrity Big Brother” winner was found unresponsive by her ex-boyfriend David Adefeso.
The Blast also wrote that she had been drinking while taking an unknown number of prescription pills.
“That time of my life was so dark and heavy,” Tamar told PEOPLE.
Tamar began her career in 1990 as a member of the sibling group The Braxtons. In 2000, she released her debut self-titled album. She found success with her second studio album, Love and War, which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2013. She was nominated for four Grammy Awards.
From 2011 to 2020, Tamar starred in the We TV reality TV series Braxton Family Values alongside her mother and sisters.
