A state-commissioned community advisory committee in New York City rejected Jay-Z’s bid to build a Caesars Palace casino in Times Square.

Board approval was required for the proposal to be considered by the state Gaming Commission.

Jay-Z’s application for a casino gambling license was denied by a vote of 4-2 on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The vote was held on Wednesday after Jay-Z and his business partners, Caesars Entertainment and SL Green Realty, spoke before the board in July.

“The question of whether to advance the application to the gaming facility’s location board has received two positive votes, meaning the application has been disapproved,” said CAC chairperson Carl Wilson.

Marc Holliday, CEO of SL Green, shouted at the board members after they voted down the casino bid.

“This was a despicable display of cowardice, a complete lack of consideration for all the people who would benefit from this,” he yelled at committee members as they walked out. “Go run and hide,” he added.

According to reports, Broadway theater owners and producers were worried about the $5.4 billion casino’s financial impact on the theater district.
