A server at a LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant in Columbus, Georgia, is charged with taking pictures of customer’s credit cards and stealing thousands of dollars.
On Wednesday, the Columbus Police Department announced the charges against Deshaun Peralta, 20, his mom Yasmin Peralta, 40, and his 17-year-old brother.
Police executed a search warrant at Peralta’s residence on Tuesday. Investigators recovered a money counter, 47.2 grams of marijuana, cellphones and a stolen AR-15 rifle.
Deshaun was charged with credit card fraud, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and theft by receiving a firearm.
His brother was charged with theft by receiving a firearm. And their mother, Yasmin Peralta, faces a theft by receiving a firearm charge.
Police say Deshaun used his cell phone to take pictures of customer credit cards at a Columbus LongHorn Steakhouse where he worked as a server.
“Detectives determined that Peralta had been photographing customer bank card numbers while processing payments and using that information to funnel thousands of dollars to himself in a variety of ways,” police said.
“At this time, investigators have identified multiple victims, and additional charges are expected as the investigation continues,” the statement read.
