CBS honcho Bari Weiss warned “CBS Mornings” host Gayle King to start pouring tea about her celebrity friends if she wants to keep her job.
CBS’ anti-woke editor-in-chief has made sweeping cuts to staffing and streaming shows. Over 2,000 staffers were let go at the network recently. Most of them are people of color, according to sources.
CBS insiders claim King’s job is on the chopping block if she doesn’t start leaking her celebrity friends’ secrets.
Sources tell Hollywood Reporter that King is “wasting her connections” by not spilling the tea.

They say King’s coveted job may be in jeopardy if she doesn’t dish more dirt about her A-list friends.
The insider said Weiss believes King is cheating her viewers and the network by not sharing insider gossip.
“Bari is obsessed with pop culture,” a senior staffer told Hollywood insider Rob Shuter. “She thinks Gayle is wasting her connections.”
Shuter said King is the only journalist invited into A-list celebrity spaces – and she’s not sharing what she knows with her audience.
“Beyonce, Kris Jenner, Jeff Bezos, Meghan Markle – Gayle is the only journalist invited into these rooms, and she brings none of it back to the audience,” the insider said.
“Bari believes viewers want Gayle’s actual life. Not scandal, not gossip – but the truth. Who she sits with, what she hears, what she sees.”

The source said King fiercely guards the friendships she’s made over the years. But now she’s being forced to choose her $13 million a year job over her friendships.
King is said to be “resisting but listening” to what Weiss has to say.
In October it was reported that King would depart CBS News when her contract expires next year. But she vigorously denied the reports.

CBS also denied reports that King may be stepping into a different role at the network. Or that she could “potentially produce her own programming” for CBS.
“There have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026,” a CBS News spokesperson said in a statement to PEOPLE.
