Milagro “Gramz” Cooper (right) issued a press release on Monday disputing reports that rapper Megan Thee Stallion (left) won a defamation lawsuit against her.

A Miami jury found Milagro liable for defaming Megan, intentionally inflicting emotional distress by coordinating with incarcerated rapper Tory Lanez and for promoting a deep fake video about Megan.

Megan sued Milagro in 2024, accusing her of being a “paid surrogate” for rapper Tory Lanez, who is serving time in a California state prison for shooting Megan in the feet in 2020.

The jury awarded the Grammy-winning rapper, born Megan Pete, only $75,000 in punitive damages. She had requested $30 million in damages.

An assistant public defender law firm that represented Milagro for free said Megan won a partial victory in the lawsuit.

The jury decided that Milagro qualified as media, which protects her under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

But they also found Milagro was not neutral. The judge can still throw out the defamation verdict because Milagro is media.

Milagro’s lawyers said she is not liable for defamation because she is a media defendant and the jury awarded Megan “a nominal amount of damages compared to millions of dollars Ms. Pete demanded from Ms. Cooper throughout the course of litigation.”

“The court has not issued a final judgement regarding the defamation count. The judge will make a final ruling and determine the entire financial amount that Milagro will be required to pay Megan,” the press release read.

“Evidently, the jury did not believe that Ms. Cooper was the sole cause of Ms. Pete’s emotional distress and that is reflected in their verdict. The jury’s verdict also reminds us all that you cannot sue media defendants without providing the proper due process.”

Milagro is still on the hook for Megan’s legal fees, which could top $1 million.

“I’m just glad it’s over,” Milagro said outside the courtroom after the verdict was read.
