San Antonio, Texas resident Simone Lyke was mauled to death by her boyfriend’s pitbull on July 24, 2025. When the story went viral over the weekend, the first thing I noticed were the AI-generated photos.

I wondered if the story was real, so I searched online and found stories from July about the fatal dog attack in Texas.

There are no recent updates about Simone Lykes. So why is her story going viral in December?

This is a real photo of Simone. Notice the tattoo on her neck doesn’t match the AI photo above that went viral this weekend.

Another AI photo shows two female officers taking control of a pitbull. But one of the officers has three legs in the AI photo.

“Police say Simone Lyke had girlfriends over when the pitbull became overly aggressive,” Amanda Moreno told News4 in San Antonio.

Simone placed the dog on a balcony to protect her friends when the dog turned on her. One of the girlfriends threw a pizza at the dog before fleeing the apartment.

“The dog lunged at Lyke, and a nearby witness threw a pizza, which temporarily distracted the dog, according to the San Antonio police.

Simone suffered serious injuries including the loss of an arm. She died from her wounds on July 28, her 32nd birthday.

Simone’s mother, Suzette Conley Early Lyke, of Chicago, Illinois, alleged “Simone was mauled by her boyfriend’s dog. The chicken s–t Chris Morris told the police it was hers.”

Chris Morris, the dog’s owner, was “cited for multiple violations, including failure to vaccinate and microchip the biting dog and another animal in the home. The dog remains in quarantine as required by law.”

The dog was euthanized in August 2025.
