Opera singer Jubilant Sykes’s son Micah Sykes is being held without bail after fatally stabbing his 71-year-old father at his home on December 9.

Micah, 31, was transferred from an LA County jail to the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center.

Online records shows Micah’s bail amount was changed from $4 million to no bail.

Deputy District Attorney Cesar Rodriguez told Judge Theresa R. McGonigle that Micah has a history of schizophrenia but he was not being appropriately medicated.

Micah’s mother, Cecelia, witnessed the attack, ABC7 reported. Judge McGonigle issued a protective order that prevents Micah from contacting his mother.

Micah’s attorney requested to delay his arraignment until 2026. His next court appearance is set for Feb. 11.

“In the commission and attempted commission of the above offense,” Sykes “personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon(s), to wit, knife, garden shears, barbell, said use not being an element of the above offense,” the complaint states.

In 2017, a Southern California woman filed for a restraining order against Micah after alleging he threatened her, according to Rolling Stone magazine.

“Micah shows signs of mental instability. His behavior is unpredictable. Micah poses a real threat… and he has been violent with his own family members,” the petition obtained by Rolling Stone reads.

The filing claims Micah confronted the woman outside a church, declared his love for her and insisted she loved him, too.

When a bystander intervened, Micah asked the man, “Do you have a sharp object in your back pocket?”

He was later arrested following an attempted break-in at the man’s father’s home and placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
