A news station in Shreveport, Louisiana obtained video that shows Ray J applying fake blood to his face during his Valentine’s Day concert.
A videographer captured video of the singer/actor applying a red substance on his face backstage at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium on February 14.
KTAL 6 News aired the footage along with video of Ray J singing to the crowd with fake blood dripping down his face.
“He loves the camera. He loves the attention. Anybody that knows him, it’s all theatrical,” photographer Tommy Nard II told PEOPLE.
“I seen him literally put on the fake blood and things like that, and go out there with the crowd, which is very shocking that he’d do something like that.”

Ray J’s manager, Melinda Santiago, issued a statement to PEOPLE alleging that the photographer was clout chasing.
“It’s absurd that a local videographer (not our team) would want to clout chase for five minutes of fame off of Ray J name and play about Ray being sick is sick in itself. My job is to protect my artists backstage from opportunistic people. If we can’t do that, then I’ll be cutting off all backstage access moving forward.”
Melinda previously said her artists continue to perform whether they are bleeding or not.
Additional viral cell phone video shows the “One Wish” singer opening his orange jumpsuit to show a small Zio patch cardiac monitor stuck to his chest.
The tiny device sticks on the skin with adhesive. It monitors the heart for arrhythmias and rapid or slow heartbeats.
It is not a portable defibrillator, it’s a diagnostic tool to help his doctor determine whether he has a heart problem.
