NAACP Image Awards host Deon Cole dissed Trump supporter Nicki Minaj during his opening monologue at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Saturday, February 28, in Pasadena, California.
“Lord, we want you to bless our sister Nicki Minaj,” the 54-year-old comedian and podcast host said as a few people in the audience booed the mention of her name. “She’s been going through a lot lately, hasn’t been herself, Lord. I believe whatever’s in her a*s is affecting her brain, Lord,” he added, referring to the rapper’s butt injections.
“Take it out her a*s, Lord. We bind that spirit in her a*s, Lord,” he continued.
Deon then discussed the racial BAFTA incident in which Tourette’s activist John Davidson shouted the n-word as Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented an award onstage.
“Lord, before we go, if there are any white men out here in the audience with Tourette’s, I advise you to tell them they better read the room tonight, Lord. It might not go the way they thinketh. Whatever medicine they’re on, they better double up on it, Lord.”

X user @KimmieLae took offense to Deon disrespecting Nicki.
“I’m so disappointed in the @NAACP. Allowing that was so tasteless and disrespectful,” she tweeted on Saturday.
“Black people are the only race who sit around and actively tear down their own people. They get a kick out of it. Imagine being on a platform that is supposed to highlight black excellence & you use it to attempt to humiliate, not ONE of, but the THE MOST successful female rapper of all time. They wanna erase OUR history, and y’all are HELPING them do it…”
Vlogger Tasha K wrote on X: “Why are they utilizing a stage that was meant to celebrate black excellence to drag down another over accomplished black woman? #NAACP is messy I guess! First time I’ve seen this kinda sh*t!”

And @thatgirlrc tweeted:
“It’s beyond weird for a black award show to be degrading one of their own because of political views. I missed the memo where being democrat was a priority over being black. Y’all negroes are getting weirder.”
