The trailer for “Scary Movie 6” is getting terrible reviews for its anti-woke content. The sixth installment in the Scary Movie film series spoofs horror movies like “Get Out”, “Saw,” “Sinners” and “M3GAN.”
The movie is directed by Michael Tiddes and written by comedy brothers Marlon Wayans, Keenan Ivory Wayans and Shawn Wayans.
In addition to the Wayans brothers and their sister, Kim, Scary Movie 6 stars Regina Hall, Anthony Anderson, and Anna Faris.
The loudest complaints about the trailer are on Reddit.com, where one Reddit user called the trailer “aggressively unfunny”.
Another user wrote: “Some of these jokes are ripped straight from the Facebook comment section.”
A third person commented: “So weird [because] isn’t Marlon’s child trans…”
One groan-inducing scene featured Ghostface in M3GAN drag stabbing a character on a subway train. A woman sitting nearby yells, “He stabbed her!”
The “victim” turns to the woman and snaps, “Not her! My pronouns are they/them! ‘He stabbed them!'”
In a Christmas scene, children unwrap gifts to find severed human body parts inside. A little Black girl picks up a man’s severed scrotum.
Marlon Wayans said his horror film cancels the cancel culture.
“We’re gonna do what we always do. We’re gonna make fun of everybody because we’re equal opportunity offenders,” Marlon told Entertainment Weekly. “We have a recipe, we have a formula that you can’t mimic or copy. You could try, but it’s very specific. It’s how we grew up, and it’s how we see the world. It’s the household we were raised in with the sense of humor that we all were governed with, that we inherited from our mother.”
He continued, “This is about bringing back comedy the way it used to be. And I think the only way to do it is you have to cancel the cancel culture.”
