Zendaya turned heads at Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood Awards on Thursday. The “Euphoria” star walked the powder blue carpet wearing a familiar white gown with floral detail previously worn by Whitney Houston.

The Eugene Alexander design features an oversized floral embellishment on the shoulder. The dress is adapted from the one worn by the late singer in a 1987 promotional photoshoot that ended up on the cover of Life magazine.

Whitney’s dress originally included two flowers and a longer hemline, according to Page Six.
Sarah Jessica Parker wore Zendaya’s one flower version in the opening credits of 2008’s “Sex and the City” movie.

Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach posted a video of his famous client to X.com. He also shared both Whitney and Sarah’s versions of the dress. He captioned the post: “An ICONIC piece of fashion history at Essence Women in Hollywood today.”
