On Monday, Angel Reese was traded to the Atlanta Dream for a bag of chips 2 first-round draft picks in 2027 and 2028.
Chicago Sky players reportedly celebrated Reese’s departure, according to Yahoo Sports.
“Sky players are thrilled that Reese is gone, making it pretty obvious she was viewed as a locker room cancer,” sports journalist Rusty Weiss wrote.
“Everyone with the Sky is very happy that she is gone.”
While Reese celebrated with a Victoria’s Secret photoshoot in New York City, Sky players were giving each other high-fives.
“There has been so much apprehension between the team and her, and everyone is happy that they don’t have to deal with her various controversies, whether she brings it on herself or otherwise,” an insider told Daily Mail.
“There is no love lost, and when Angel returns for a game with her new team, she will be the enemy, but everyone with the Sky is very happy that she is gone.”
The insider added, “They (teammates) were getting sick of her, and to make this trade was very much needed for the health of the organization moving forward.”
Reese rubbed her teammates the wrong way last year when she threw them under the bus in an interview with the Chicago Tribune.
“I’m not settling for the same sh*t we did this year. We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me,” she said.
Following the backlash from teammates and fans, Reese faked a back injury and sat out the final 3 games of the season in 2025.
Time will tell whether Reese brings a winning attitude or her usual toxicity to the Atlanta Dream locker room.
