13-year-old baseball phenom Mo’Ne Davis made the cover of Sports Illustrated. Mo’Ne became the first female to throw a shutout in Little League baseball. She is the first Little League player to ever grace the cover of SI.
For all her accomplishments as a baseball star, Mo’Ne says her dream is to play basketball for the University of Connecticut.
“To be honest, I never thought I’d be famous for baseball,” she says. “I want to play basketball, and I could also do both basketball and baseball — but I really want to play basketball.”
111-pound eighth grader is taking her fame in stride. But she says she finds one aspect of fame to be a little unsettling.
“People were like, ‘Oh, there are going to be people running up to you taking pictures’ and I thought it was going to be a bunch of little kids. But it’s grown-ups! And that’s, like, creepy,” she said.
Davis and her teammates are just one win away from the Little League World Series championship in South Williamsport.
