This morning we awoke to the news that the planned Koran barbecue by a deranged Florida pastor might still be on as scheduled for tomorrow.
A lunatic and 50 of his followers threaten to light a match to an Islamic religious relic and the world explodes with heated passion and outrage.
What’s going on here?

Why would the US president lower the dignity of the highest office in the land by personally appealing to an egotistical crackpot on national TV?
Obama claimed that the lives of the American troops in Afghanistan would be endangered if Pastor Terry Jones burned a Koran.
Since when does the Muslim world need a reason to kill our troops?

As a practicing Muslim, I feel that burning the Koran is the most ignorant thing anyone can do. The war on terroism does not lie with the practice of Islam. If the pastor was burning Afghan flags then it wouldn’t be a huge issue. I just can’t figure out how someone can justify burning anyones religious doctrine! Burning the Quran will only make things worse for the troops and other Americans in heavily populated Islamic areas.

I can’t believe I’m actually saying this but I agree with this point of view for the most part.
While I still don’t think it’s right to burn anyone’s holy doctrine I don’t see why the Pastor’s plans are any worse than what this country has already been doing to disrespect the entire Islamic faith for years now. Hell, certain people think that calling Obama a Muslim is a great insult.
I don’t think that people need a reason to hate but some do need an excuse so they can at least justify their ignorance and intolerance to themselves.

There are people over there who don’t agree with or practice what you’re being shown on tv constantly. Those people can’t speak up without fear of persecution. There are burning of the American flag, churches and such and not nearly the up roar as this. Some preacher burns he holy Quran and it’s different than all the other instances? These extremist that are so rooted in their faith will shed blood over the book burning? The same ones will stone women and children in the name of that same faith! Please! I won’t lose any sleep over the burning as if this one man changes everyone’s beliefs because he burns it!

My child in my gravi has a dad in the Army and my daddy is still in the Army. You better believe that this is just what the radicals need to snare those people who were on the fence.
