I have had a male family member get shytted on by his ex when it came to their kids so I absolutely think moms and dads can be manipulative with their kids. that is. Apparently nearly all conventionally grown strawberry samples
tested by federal officials had detectable pesticide residues, and some
had traces of as many as 17 different pesticides lingering around.
With summer and its bounty of luscious fruits and vegetables just
around the corner, the Environmental Working Group has come out with its annual “Dirty Dozen” list of produce that are heavily contaminated with pesticides, and this year strawberries get top billing on the list of foods to avoid.
The popular berry — the average American eats nearly eight pounds of
fresh strawberries a year — displaced apples, which headed the list the
last five years running.
Once a seasonal crop, strawberries are now grown almost all year long
with the help of heavy doses of pesticides. In California, where most
US strawberries are grown, each acre of strawberry field is treated with
a whopping 300 pounds of pesticides. Of this, more than 60 pounds are
conventional chemicals that may leave post-harvest residues. Most of the rest are fumigants — volatile poison gases that can drift into nearby
schools and neighborhoods.
EWG’s update of its “Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce”
reports that 98 percent of conventional strawberry samples tested by the
US Department of Agriculture had detectable pesticide residues. Of
those, 40 percent had residues of 10 or more pesticides. Some of the
chemicals detected on strawberries are relatively benign, but others are
linked to cancer, reproductive and developmental damage, hormone
disruption, and neurological problems.
“This is the first year that strawberries topped the list, and I was
surprised by how heavily contaminated they were,” Sonya Lunder, EWG
senior analyst, told EIJ. “What’s worse is that the residues are well within the limits of laws regulating pesticides in food in this country. Most people don’t even know that there are pesticide residues in their produce that stays on even after washing.”
In total, the EWG report — which is based on results of more than
35,200 produce samples tested by the USDA and the Food and Drug
Administration — found 146 different pesticides on fruit and vegetable
samples tested in 2014. These are residues that remain on produce even after items are washed and in some cases peeled.
Other produce on the Dirty Dozen list includes apples, nectarines,
peaches, celery, grapes, cherries, spinach, tomatoes, sweet bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers. The report found a single grape sample and a sweet bell pepper sample contained 15 pesticides each. And though potatoes didn’t make it to the list, the report notes that the average potato had more pesticides by weight than any other produce.
The report also included a plus category to highlight two types of food that contain trace levels of highly hazardous pesticides — leafy greens like kale and collard greens, and hot peppers. These veggies didn’t meet the traditional Dirty Dozen ranking criteria but were frequently found to be contaminated with insecticides toxic to the human nervous system. Among the chemicals at issue are organophosphate and carbamate insecticides. These are no longer detected widely on other produce, either because of binding legal restrictions or voluntary phase-outs.
“The EPA needs to revise the levels of residues allowed on produce to
reflect new research that shows that these chemicals are harmful even
in small doses, especially for young children,” Lunder says.
Recent studies of insecticides used on some fruits and vegetables,
including strawberries, found that children exposed to high levels were
at greater risk of impaired intelligence and ADHD. Research also indicates that the levels of pesticides in the bodies of elementary school
children peaked during the summer, when they ate the most fresh produce. But after just five days on an organic diet, they were essentially
pesticide-free.
“[On] balance we know that eating fruits and veggies is good for
health, but if you want to limit exposure to pesticides, we recommend
buying organic versions of these vegetables,” Lunder says. The produce
items on the Dirty Dozen list usually don’t change too much, she says,
so it makes for a good guide of which fruits and vegetables we should
buy organic.
“I buy organic as much as I can because of the totality of the issue, given that the use of pesticides is bad for the soil, bad for our health, and bad for farmworkers,” Lunder says. But, she adds, there are also some conventionally grown produce are safe to eat. Like vegetables
that form the brassicaceae family — such as cauliflower, cabbage, garden cress, bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and onions and garlic — that are naturally resistant to pests and therefore aren’t sprayed with as much pesticides.
Buying locally and buying produce that’s in season also helps, since
storing and shipping produce requires more applications of pesticides,
especially fumigants.
Thankfully, the EWG report also includes a “Clean Fifteen” list of
produce least likely to hold too many pesticide residues. This year’s
list (in descending order) consists of avocados, sweet corn, pineapples,
cabbage, frozen sweet peas, onions, asparagus, mangoes, papayas, kiwis, eggplant, honeydew melon, grapefruit, cantaloupe, and cauliflower. No single fruit sample from the Clean Fifteen list tested positive for more than four types of pesticides, and very few for more than one.

I have to say…my parents had a very tumultuous relationship. It was never healthy. My father was a dyck and never treated or loved her right, and she stayed for years hoping things would change. They didn’t and that affected her. Deeply. Definitely had a lot to do with her attitude while I was growing up. She never found happiness elsewhere either, either in a new relationship or through looking at herself and dealing with her demons to find peace. She’s learned to maintain and chill a bit but there is still something there that is missing with her, and she denies to her self that it exists I’m sure. She will never admit it but I see it now that I’m grown and aware. It definitely gave me a thick skin and absolutely affects how I parent…and she’s overall, even with her shyt, a great mother and grandmother. Plus now I get in her stuff when she tries it, I call her out,and she does not like it but she needs it ?

This is my mom. My father just came to take her to dinner. They aren’t together. She sees nothing else when he’s around. He ain’t even been around her since January. 29 years of other marriages (never married her) and multiple kids and she still jump when he come around. I look at the dysfunction and feel sorry but she real grown. I parent different and love different because I’m scared of that kind of love. My daughter is her world though. Her everything, even over me. She don’t play about me though. Let someone try it! She loves hard and can’t let go. Her demons and burdens are hers to deal with though. I LUH ha to death though. Even while letting her know when she get out of pocket lol.

I worked with a teen to lashed out at her mother all the time even hitting her and always said she wanted to live with the father. The father had been sexually abusing her for years and he had trained her to abuse the mother and never defy him. Not saying this father is abusive but this video looks extremely coached and also the best interests of children cannot be determined by these types of videos. Families are multi-layered and some children can be easily manipulated even for the promise of a toy or a pack of gummies. I hope these children are in the best home and neither parent continues these public antics, oh and God please send Kiwi another nickname.

My cousin’s hot blooded son went out and made him a grandpa and that little baby girl doesn’t want anything to do with anybody but her Paw Paw. You would think they boil her in oil when he leaves, I should video her. He is a 35 year old grandpa so he is active and takes her everywhere and buys her everything. She cries because she has more fun with Paw Paw not because she is being abused. And she is waaaay more sorrowful that Kiwi and her sister she actually made me do a little mini investigation because of all the screaming and hollering she does when he leaves.
I did some digging and the father got granted custody of the children. The mother was allowing abuse from a 14 year old boy to her children and she was also abusive. (Kicking, slapping, punching) she is allowed to see the children only if she is supervised. Thank God they’re in loving and protective arms now.

Girls are a trip. I asked the judge at 8 if I could live with Dad after my parents divorce even after witnessing countless physical and mental abuse towards my mother. I thought she must’ve did something to make him mad. I was so disrespectful to my mother because I was copying him. Poor kids, they will need therapy.

My mom used to kick my azz like it was a hobby, on trip to the psychologist, she was told the anger and frustration she had built up against him (yes, I look like dad) she was taking it out on me. First And Last Time Seeing him(psychologist). My mother still has amnesia til this day, long story short…my dad took me and my 3 older brothers when I was 3, reunited with her at 14, left home at 17…..3 years was all I could do!

This needed to happen. Children are manipulated by abusers and some try to love them better to make it go away and it looks like the relationship is great. I have seen it and I saw it from behind me because when it was going on, the amount of attention and time spent to keep the child from telling looked like a loving parent spending so much time. Until a child says “I thought you knew” no parent will understand why this father felt the need to go this far

I see why Sandra keeps this site private cause some people on here are so ignorant and callous with their opinions. Nobody really knows what’s going on in that home or whether just because the child stuck their tongue out, it’s bs. My mom has worked in Foster Care 30 years and there’s no cookie cut out as to how an anused child(key word) acts. Secondly, in the age of technology let’s not pretend that people film whenever they go to the bathroom so this filming shouldn’t be such a shock. Nobody knows what’s going on behind those closed doors and I just pray that whoever got the children has their best interest at heart.
The more eyes the better? If he doesn’t get custody and those kids ARE being abused … someone might recognize the kids from the videos if they are distressed in public. Or bruised up. Or if they try telling someone that has seen the video that something bad is happening to them at home. I can’t fault the guy for sharing it. I would likely do the same thing. Knowing that this video is out there MIGHT make the mother treat them better so they actually want to be around her.
I don’t see the point of this guy putting this on WSHH. If you’ve really got an issue with the way your BM is treating your kids, document it, give it to your attorney, and let him/her figure out how to best use it on your behalf in court.
