Saturday Night Live is reportedly replacing outspoken comedian Leslie Jones with Chris Redd, a younger, hungrier black comic.
Jones outlived her usefulness to the long-running NBC TV series with her headline-grabbing antics on social media recently.
The actress, who celebrated her 49th birthday on Wednesday, was the victim of a hacker who leaked her nude, sexually explicit photos online.
Decider.com — Chris Redd is comic who came up through the Chicago improv scene. He trained at both The Second City and iO Theater and is known as both a stand up and an impressionists. He’s had frequent brushes with success and has worked on projects with the likes of Tina Fey and improv guru Mick Napier. Redd’s biggest break to date? Playing Hungry the Hunter in the Lonely Island’s Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. Redd recently opened for the departing Jay Pharoah and, yes, he has a Barack Obama impression ready to go.
Over its 30-year run Saturday Night Live launched the careers of well-known black comics such as Eddie Murphy, Damon Wayans, Kenan Thompson, Tracy Morgan and Garrett Morris.
Take care, Leslie.
