Rapper Wiz Khalifa can’t do anything right. First he posted a video glorifying marijuana smoking last week, and now he’s visiting the grave of a notorious drug lord in Colombia.
The lanky rapper angered Colombians when he posted several Instagram.com snaps of himself posing over the gravesite of dead Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.
Khalifa visited the grave in Medellin following his concert in the city on Friday.
Many Colombians expressed outrage that the rapper was glorifying a man who reportedly killed thousands of Colombians including bombing a commercial airliner with 107 souls on board.
The BBC reports that Medellin Mayor Federico Gutierrez is appalled by the rapper’s visit to the gravesite and said he should apologize for “advocating crime.”
“It shows that this guy has never had to suffer from the violence inflicted by these drug traffickers,” Gutierrez said.
Escobar, who was known as the Medellín cocaine Kingpin, died in a hail of bullets in 1993 while trying to avoid capture by law enforcement officers. At one time Escobar was responsible for 80% of the cocaine traffic around the world.
As the top drug trafficker in Colombia, he earned $420 million a week. He was worth an estimated $30 billion when he died.
These are the stats that impress fatherless rappers like Wiz Khalifa who, without father figures to teach them — they don’t how to recognize real heroes.
Rapper 2 Chainz named his Atlanta restaurant after the cocaine drug lord.
