A gunman killed 7 people inside a Plano home before he was shot and killed by a police officer. More than 3 dozen police units responded to the scene of the shooting in the 1700 block of West Spring Creek Parkway, near Custer Road, at 8:04 p.m. Sunday.
Neighbors say they heard 30-40 gunshots ring out at a Dallas Cowboy watch party. An officer who was in the area responded to the call and heard the gunshots as he arrived.
“After he heard the gunshots, he made entry and that’s when he observed several victims inside and then engaged the suspect,” police spokesman David Tilley said. The unidentified officer shot the suspect, killing him.
The officer was placed on administrative leave which is protocol in an officer-involved shooting.
The deceased are all adults. Two other people at the home were hospitalized. Their conditions are not known.
Neighbor Crystal Suggs told Fox4 News reporter Allison Harris she heard a man and a woman arguing outside the house. Suggs said the woman turned to go back inside the house when the gunman produced an automatic weapon and started shooting.
“So as he released, I ran back in because I didn’t want to get hit by nothing,” Suggs said.
The mass shooting occurred about 20 miles northeast of Dallas.
