Director Bryan Barber, who was cut out of ABC’s ‘Black-ish’ TV series based on his own life, is mourning the loss of his 8-year-old son Bryan. Barber, 47, wrote a touching tribute to his namesake son on his social media accounts early Tuesday.
“Thank you for everything son. I’ll never forget you and what you brought into my life. Endless smiles, laughs and tickles… You made me live again.” He added: “Say hi to Prince for me. I love you with all my heart forever. Love forever Dad.”
Barber, who graduated from Clark Atlanta University, is best known for directing rap music videos for artists such as Outkast and Wiz Khalifa and the poorly-received movie Idlewild, starring Outkast.
In 2016 he sued ‘Black-ish’ creator Kenya Barris and others for $1 million, alleging breach of contract and fraud for stealing the idea for the hit TV series which was based on Barber’s life.
In his lawsuit, Barber alleged his former college roommate, Barris, stole his idea for the TV series without giving him credit or compensation.
