Longterm couple Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade were all smiles and holding hands as they headed for a romantic dinner date at a restaurant in Beverly Hills on Monday. Gabrielle, 45, recently spoke about using her “authentic voice” instead of her fake voice to get what she wanted.
The Being Mary Jane star said she used a “dumb-ass special voice” during her early days in Hollywood. She said she rehearsed the voice daily in hopes of impressing people during auditions.
But she says more doors opened for her when she stopped being fake.
“When I spoke in my most authentic voice, I got what I wanted — I got what I deserved,” she told Elle Canada. “And I’m 45. I think I’ve been in this business 22 years using that dumb-ass voice that I thought was helping me, and I’m sure it did at certain times. But I wonder how my career could have been different if I had let that real voice out.”
