Dozens of celebrities and public figures lost millions of followers in a purge of fake accounts on Twitter.com.
Former President Barack Obama lost over 2.3 million followers after Twitter purged fake accounts on the social media platform Thursday.
Other celebrities such as singers Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift lost 2.7 million followers and 2.3 million followers respectively.
President Donald Trump lost 300,000 followers, dropping his follow count to 53.1 million.
Twitter announced it was purging millions of fake accounts after a media outlet published an expose revealing the staggering number of celebrities and politicians who buy million of followers on social media.
Accounts that are dormant for over 30 days are also being purged.
