It’s been 5 months since Virgil Abloh was appointed as the first ever Black menswear artistic director for Louis Vuitton. But not everyone is happy with the direction the Off-White founder is taking the French luxury retailer.
For six years, Louis Vuitton was the world’s most valuable luxury brand, but the design house’s longtime customers fear the brand’s reputation is in jeopardy.
Soon after his appointment, Abloh got busy designing lackluster custom outfits for his rapper friends. It wasn’t long before faithful LV customers complained loudly that Abloh was cheapening the brand.
Abloh was heavily criticized for designing a one-off Louis Vuitton suit for music producer Kanye West who paired the suit with slides to wear to rapper 2 Chainz’s wedding last weekend.
Abloh defended Kanye’s unconventional outfit.
“That was the most important outfit of recent memory. It gave me hope after all the over-saturation of fashion where every two weeks there’s a new It shoe. The brands [that West was wearing] were everywhere, but there was no identifiable brand.”
Abloh was Kanye’s longtime artistic director before he launched his own Off-White label with moderate success.
“He and I are fans of fashion, and are obviously self-taught,” Abloh continues. “We both got to a place where we were able to make these things and make them in our image. And to me, that image is as important as all of the Black women on the September covers.”
Then, on Monday, rappers Offset and Quavo of the group Migos, wore Louis Vuitton ensembles to the MTV VMAs that drew more blank stares from the Louis Vuitton faithful.
Critics argue that Abloh is not a trained designer in the classical sense (he has a degree in architecture), and many believe he is not the right fit to move the classic brand forward.
“I am very disappointed, though absolutely not surprised by Abloh’s appointment,” said Eugene Rabkin, Editor-in-Chief and Founder, Style Zeitgeist magazine.
“Expect the same boring, easily-digestible menswear archetypes Abloh has been churning out at Off-White, only with Louis Vuitton logo on them; and, obviously, a slew of collaborations. Abloh’s hiring is a disservice to fashion at large, and will only contribute to the dismal state of contemporary fashion.”

So is Becky calling the fashion police?
Did he cheapen the brand or blacken the brand?
LV has been played out for years…….when I think of classic I think DVF, YSL, Hermes’….LV aint been right since they been making those tacky zz counterfeit monogram bags years ago. They still be selling them on the avenues in Philly too…
Abloh didn’t need LV or outside validation. He would have been better off steering Off White into a luxury brand. I also wondered why he never designed a high end skater brand given he is a skater.
He is overpersonlizing LV, and cheapening the brand by catering to rapper friends. He should bring people up to his design level not pander to customize wants.
Michael B. Jordan wore Abloh’s Off White couture to the MET Gala and he was stunning and the best dressed man at the event. That is the caliber Abloh can bring to LV, not Quavo and Offset making mockery of the brand.
Abloh’s gift and vision should be reserved for his own brand, not given to LV.
I like Offset’s outfit….& I love Kanye’s now that I got a close up. He is experimenting & nothing wrong with that. Many experiments lead to great inventions & creative designs.
I kinda chuckled at the article honestly. He about Dapper Dan the LV logo on anything any rapper wants. That hat and Ye’s suit looked atrocious. However black people are the most confident people when it comes to fashion. I expect to see more hood rich peices since he has taken over.
I can get with that LV long sleeved number UpSet is wearing.
He’s no Dapper Dan, but you may have a point. I think he blackened it per se, but Offset wearing it like that def cheapend it. Looks horrible on him.
Goooooood question!
That shirt tho, smh….could have done without it. It’s like he wanted to wear all his new LV at the same time.
Maybe it’s just me but I like my money quiet. Meaning no labels on the outside and only those who can afford it recognize it. I digress, some people like to dress like it’s tax refund season all year.
Yeah….flip flops with socks on a crushed green suit is real great…foh
Lol… chileeeee
Sounds like they want to find an excuse to blame the black man
I always feel like Migos have to much shit on….it is hard to separate what is trashy and what is aight…..dont get me wrong…I love LV…but to have too much of it on, it can look kinda tacky….now the outfits above…well…does Offset have on 2 LV shirts?? See that is what I’m saying…too much going on….I’m gonna need to see this in separates to make my formal decision….
I know LV is a luxuary brand but I always thought their bags were gaudy and ugly. I guess.
Flip flops were Kanye’s idea, not the designer.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we gonna act like we dont see that Kanye wearing Saint’s shoes????
What is with the finger to teeth thing?
Still had to take a swipe at black women. Just leave us out of this. Its always the black males that are married to white women dragging us.? Him and kanye dont evennow any black women. Shut up. Although abloh married really well.
We both got to a place where we were able to make these things and make them in our image. And to me, that image is as important as all of the Black women on the September covers.”?
they need floss maybe?
well i guess if Bernard Arnault didn’t like what he was doing, he wouldn’t still be doing it (at LV). fashion is fluid… it evolves… yeah, i prefer the ‘classics’ but there’s a lot of ‘new money’ out there and it’s the young folks who have it, so you gotta appeal to that market if you want that money *shrug*
(seems like somebody just wanted to take a swipe at this dude because he’s not yt… plenty of young designers get moved into the older more established fashion houses; some thrive, some don’t, but to say this guy ruined the brand is a stretch… IMO) *yawn*
yep, i like Ye’s suit!
“tax refund season” ROFL!!
HOLLERING!!!!
It’s ghetto now. Cheap and not original. Rappers have no taste any way. Just quietly let him go he is not good for the brand.
I wish my spouse would. Idk anyone’s wife/husband that would let their spouse attend a formal event with those too small ass shoes on. Now, if he’s diabetic and/or had foot surgery, I can understand. They still would be the proper size though.…?? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c6a28e8c1e969e5d648b06bc7a2a6eb9d0e41e384e6f6ed376ad0a9d58e8988e.gif
Its literally the same tacky stuff they’ve been wearing for years. Nothing has changed except the person who is in charge has black skin. Don’t fall for this foolishness. Whenever we get a position of power, there are some assh*les who creates trumped up BS in order to discredit hardwork and talent. Tired of black being associated with “ghetto” just cause those who can afford are not some white faced socialite who wears the same shit but get a pass because they “belong” in those clothes, and rich black people……..
I totally agree. Young people have a different aesthetic. They don’t want classic. They want hot. If LV wants to stay relevant they have got to move with the times. Classic will always be there for those that want it but LV wants to make money and these folks are not going to pay for something that doesn’t appeal to them just because it’s got LVs on it.
Offset looks like some ugly cartoon character and Louis Vuitton doesn’t look good
I agree! These ghetto rappers do cheapen the brands. And to me monogram anything just screams, “hey, look what I can or cannot afford, I have on name brand.” I steer away from anything mainstream. Anytime I hear brands being name-dropped in lyrics, that’s my queue to not wear it.
This is complete tomfoolery. Please fire this man.
LV wants to make money and stay relevant. These young people don’t look bad at all. It’s young and it’s hip. They can stay ‘classic’ and become a dinosaur or they can branch out and include clothes and accessories that appeal to a younger generation. Most young girls I know like Michael Kors better than LV anyway. Abloh is doing just what he was hired to do. I’m team Abloh…
right. and let’s not forget that these designers ‘borrow’ from these kids’ street style when they see the opportunity to capitalize, so what the prollem izz?
you got me; i wasn’t ready… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/615d380290005c75f2b73b61063d678adb00cb683258e4273a2f5c12b8d5723d.gif
And the realest award goes to you!!!!
Floss the griil and pinky ring. Dude has a ring on every finger. He is a classic case of being a lost N*gga
He might be better in LV knockoff market
The outfit that Offset and Quavo had on was from the Fall/Winter 2018 Louis Vuitton Collection which was not designed by Abloh but designed by Kim Jones.
Its official.. Louis Vuitton has become the Red Lobster of the fashion world..for the most part it only us buying it anymore… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/68bc52b2a4f54f3dc0d4dea29ec0c12c203c19b65d4d18beb2fbbd13d0be6a55.gif
Can’t get mad because niggas can afford to wear the brand. Once Virgil Abloh creates it, he can’t dictate how they choose to wear it.
Ion understand when Moschino was designing shit to look like McDonalds, making plain White Tees that cost $2,000, you didn’t hear no complaints because a skinty azz white boy created the shit.
?????
ha!! I have on a pair of Michael Khor shoes right now….. Macy’s the plug…lol
Most young girls I know like Michael Kors better than LV anyway.
——–
Nah. That’s probably what they can afford. Everything that is wrong with LV is also wrong with Michael Kors so I can’t see a reason to prefer MK. There are a lot of better brands that cater to people that prefer a more subtle look.
The brand is cheapening but more so because it’s become so accessible. Just the sheer volume of women carrying LV monogram bags whenever I’m in the grocery is a sign of this, be it real or fake, it’s just not exclusive anymore. The sleazy element of the rap scene being outfitted in LV (and Gucci) is not doing the brand favors, but the decline didn’t just start with this new designer joining the fashion house.
But they’ve been putting out similar styles for years before Abloh came along. Maybe LV ain’t been it for a long time and people have just moved on.
I had high hopes for Abloh, but I agree with the fashionistas. It’s cheapening the brand. BUT — it’s bringing a lot of BLACK people to the brand. I was passing a LV store on Michigan Avenue today and there was nothing but black people in the store. I thought, damn, they must be rich! to be in LV store.
And I think those slide shoes Kanye is wearing is nothing special. They look ordinary.
I think LV does a genius job of keeping different types of customers. When someone says there’s too much LV they’re talking about speedy, neverfull, eva, etc in monogram or damier canvas but then there’s a whole other world of leather bags like empreinte, epileather, sofia copola’s line, taiga, suhali, etc that are not easily identifiable, cost 3-5 times more than canvas and LV has no issues selling those to the higher taste customers. So there’s something for everyone and either way they are selling bags.
But the whole point of high-fashion like LV is to be copied and replicated so that it’s accessible to the masses. I’ve never liked any fashion by LV or Gucci, except their purses. And I don’t remember seeing any “stars” wearing LV and Gucci on the red carpet. They seem to go with the Stella McCarthys, Tom Fords, people like that.
Its black folk talking about other black people cheapening a brand….. SMH…You can’t cheapen shit if you Can Afford it. The only thing that’s cheapening Any of these Brands (LV, Gucci, Chanel, etc) are these Chinese, Asians, Koreans who are knocking this shit off and selling it on line, on Canal street, Ebay, etc.
I see a lot of MK purses, but not sure about his clothing – which I think is ordinary.
If they along with Kanye West were styled by Virgil Abloh, he may need to find a new calling.
But the whole point of high-fashion like LV is to be copied and replicated so that it’s accessible to the masses.
_______________________________________________
NO THIS IS THE ISSUE. This is what Cheapens brands.
But the whole point of hiring Abloh was that he would bring in the Younger crowd. Unfortunately, he brought in the “ghetto” black crowd with the gold grills
I don’t know who styles Drake, but he always looks appropriately dressed.
BUT young people CANNOT afford LV. They can afford the knockoff LV, but not the real thing.
You gotta be rich to buy something out of a LV store? WOW.
I remember back in 2008 when Louis Vuitton canceled their custom made-to-order service because every rapper was ordering custom pieces. Louis Vuitton customers favor the brand because of its exclusivity. Now every time they look up, a rapper is wearing custom LV.
Are being black and cheap mutually exclusive? He cheapened it in my opinion, anyone assuming it’s cheap BECAUSE he’s black is being racist. But the “cheapening” didn’t start with him.
Moschino is not in the same league as Louis Vuitton.
Says who?
fendi has some nice shit
Lies! The fashion blogs say Virgil designed Offset’s outfit.
They do. I see rapper Lil Baby stays in Fendi and Balenci shoes. If these young niggas can afford it then hay….
People who can afford to buy entire LV season lines do not want to see LV saturated in the marketplace like MCM. They want exclusivity.
man went in the fendi store and was like damn i want this, this and that and this..
Black people don’t have the midas touch. When too many black folks get hold of something it gets ruined. That includes neighborhoods and trends. That’s how it is folks. LV better get rid of him quick.
Both
She better because we as black folks don’t have the funds to support anything except foolishness.
The cheapening did start with him. It’s not being racist it’s being truthful. Black folks don’t have the clout to hold up a famous brand that depend on very very very wealthy white folks and Arabs to keep it afloat.
Tell it
Black people don’t add prestige to products. This is a known fact.
LV needs to stay classic where the old money is. These black folks are not what LV needs to remain relevant.
Thanks for telling the truth. Get rid of him LV.
Smart move
LOLOL
I ain’t read the write-up. Always blame the black guy.
People who “can afford” to buy entire LV lines will have to see people who are BLACK that CAN AFFORD the entire line as well. Nothing is Exclusive if you CAN AFFORD IT. It doesn’t matter what color you are.
“I am very disappointed, though absolutely not surprised by Abloh’s appointment,”
_________________________________________________________
So in other words, he is saying, “That guy Abloh, he’s an affirmative action hire”!!
LMAOOOOOOOOOO
Truth
Correct
No LV need to stay with the old money of white folks and Arabs if they want to remain relevant. They need to get rid of this dude before he ruins the brand altogether. Black folks don’t have the clout or prestige. It’s just like that
No if too many black folks get hold of something it ruins it. That goes for properties, neighborhoods, trends, brands, foods, anything.
No those cultures have been copying prestigous brands for years. People paid almost as much for a knock-off than the real thing. Black folks don’t carry the prestige to maintain brands like LV, Gucci, Valentino,. These brands have to continue to attract old money from white folks and Arabs to stay relevant.
Yezzy wore LV and KK wore a Fashion Nova dress ????
LMAO i laugh so hard when these kids think things like LV, Gucci, Givenchy, Chanel, et al, is some new ish!!…Im like bro….these designers been around long before your parents were even thought of, and they ALL have come in and gone out of style at some point over the years…..this stuff is nothing new
I try to explain to them, stuff like that LV jersey offset is wearing, wont be wearable a few years from now…however, a nice LV cashmere sweater with no monogram, or maybe a very small understated monogram, is timeless and can be worn 30yrs from now. Everything aint gotta be logo’ed out!!
You aint never lied! Quiet as it’s kept, MCM either.
The whole point of high- fashion or any business is to make money…
They can and are doing both. I want classic but a young, 20 year old entertainer wants something more modern…
People kill me, look how long Gucci ripped off Dapper Dan before finally giving him credit. Now they give a black man free reign of an Italian designer while in his prime and y’all want to shht on him….. this is why we cant have nice things!
Very true… but their couture line has to modernize or they become stale. Fashion has to evolve or it becomes stale. Old heads want classic. The younger generation who can afford LV don’t want styles from before they were born. This guy brings a new twist that is not meant to appeal to classic taste. I think both styles can co-exist comfortably.
LV should have given this brother a sub-brand and gave it another name. These dummies gave Abloh the master key. It was a mistake. LV needs old money from generational wealth coming from whites and Arabs to remain relevant. It’s just a fact. Black folks don’t have the generational wealth or prestige to keep a brand like LV afloat.
Quality wise, MCM is just as good or even better than LV honestly.
Personally I prefer luxury branding without labels.
I love RL styles for my children without visible outside logos. I only wear luxury brand clothing and bags without visible outside logos and do love buying consignment and vintage.
I will never and have never worn LV monogram, Gucci monogram, nor any monogrammed style. I prefer classic styles with the label inside or discreetly displayed (ie. microscopic on the zip pull side as with Marc Jacobs).
I think material and cut quality reflect a designer, not displayed logos.
Thank you…always blaming black people for some s****.
Yep!
I’m the coon patrol…and something is seriously wrong with you. TransMichelle…you’re a troll on this blog and a troll in life.
Dapper Dan was ripping off gucci and lv actually
You probably know how to dress well. It’s like you don’t notice the person’s outfit at first but then when you look again you say “yeah those are some nice shoes he’s wearing.” You make the clothes the clothes don’t make you.
Just because you don’t agree with me is none of my business. I don’t care one way or another. You know stick and stones and all that good stuff. We black people need to stop always feeding ourselves on lies and claiming victim status. We’ve gotten so sensitive now we can’t even be criticized. We not perfect.
Exactly.
Take a seat sis…you sound Dumb AF!!!
I see your point but I disagree, he was making it more appealing to the generations that wanted dope shht, that they could see themselves wearing.
Oh do pipe down about your rich a rabs missy! ?
the Red Lobster of the fashion
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
cold Cold COLD! LOLLOLLOL!!!!!!
LOLLOLLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is true…but Abloh is designing for entertainers mostly. Old money isn’t checking for his clothes so I don’t see why the two types of monied fashionistas can’t co-exist. I do understand about wanting exclusivity though…
Yeah… Plenty of purses. Not so much clothing…
I agree there are better brands than MK. I don’t get it’s popularity but I figure it’s a generational thing…
LOLLOLLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh please ??? if anyone knows anything about the “brand” , it was ruined when the company transitioned ownership and MFG. Why do you think the Vintage LV is worth more ? and being sold in random retailers such as Banana Republic, Stein Mart, Dillard’s and Burlington Coat Factory ?? It’s now manufacturered poorly using cheap material than the original founding owners. So don’t blame the brotha. ? So buy Vintage LV!!
You’re not black are you?
It’s just a fact. Black folks don’t have the generational wealth or prestige to keep a brand like LV afloat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Generally speaking, we don’t have generational wealth but the idea that we are not prestigious in our own right is false. Abloh is not creating for the old, moneyed set. He is creating for a hip, urban clientele who are not interested in the fashion or taste of LVs old, staid, moneyed clientele. We have to get out of the mindset that if people of color are wearing it then it is automatically a negative. As one white lady in the music business told me, “Black people are awesome, the problem is you just don’t know it.”
That’s why they should have gave this brother a completely different line with a completely different name. They gave him LV lock, stock, and barrel. Bad move. When too many black people get into a neighborhood it becomes a ghetto. Abloh may be talented I’m not doubting that. But black people don’t have the midas touch and do not carry prestige that’s why we always trying to get into white institutions. That’s why black people running to the Paris fashion week. Africa has fashion weeks too. Why don’t they go there? We want to feel like we finally accepted by whites. That only goes so far. This dude needs to be let go before LV becomes completely ghetto.
I agree…the more classic the better…but Im a sucker for prints I love a good wrap dress with a little flair…
Right. They come with the territory in that industry.
there’s something for everyone
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!
THIS!!! This is what people don’t seem to get. Look at all the different LV lines that you named that the average person knows nothing about!!! We have got to stop believing that if we like something that it is somehow cheapened or lessened in some way.
Can he defend Kims Ashy Side foot TOO…asking for a few peeps???
You jealous? You know what’s gonna happen don’t you. White folks are going to take over African fashion. There’s a huge market there. And we will be left out again. And no I’m not a trannie before you even try it.
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1d843afe7dade7e7c98fb20b4df6931eb9131dff86528c3211fb0a4335c9130a.jpg
But how can someone with a degree in Architecture be a designer. They probably hired him so he can fail and then they can say they have a Black person a chance.
This why we can’t get anything and keep it. Everything is a dam conspiracy against black folks. Put a sock in it love.
Probably blacker than you. Just because I refuse to lie to myself about our culture doesn’t mean I’m not black. Plus I could care less about what you believe.
Child Bye
Diane Von Furstenburg made the wrap dress a classic. I like wrap dresses too.
First of all….Off White is trash to me.
Wrong Wrong Wrong!!!! He doesn’t have LV lock stock and barrel — and if he didn’t have the Midas Touch then crochety old geezers wouldn’t have their knickers all in a knot. He is dealing with one segment of LVs brand only. We are a great people who have the ability to do great things. We are not a monolithic group of people so stop associating ghetto with the entire race…
Child please. Just like black folks messing up the NFL Abloh is not what LV needs. They need old money to remain relevant. We don’t have old money we don’t have the prestige. Just look at our neighborhoods. Sorry the truth hurts you so much but I refuse to live in lies. When we face the truth we can build and grow. Not before.
The only thing that hurts is the knowledge that folks still have that ole massa mentality that Black Folks ain’t worth a damn. Self-esteem, Self-knowledge, Self-love and the knowledge that Black Folks are a great people will go a long way to change the lie that so many like to believe that we are worthless.
I try to support black designers, whenever possible. I recently purchased several pairs of Fear of God sneakers, because I love the shoes and they appear to be quality sneakers. Time will tell.
Back in the day, in addition to the classic designers, I rocked Karl Kani and Willi Wear. I used to have a limited edition black and white denim suit by Willi Smith. This was before online shopping and none of Chicago stores sold my suit! The club kids used catch fever whenever I walked in the door. ?
In the 80s, clubbing was an event. You showed up and showed out! Today, I don’t think the kids put much effort in the way they dress or maybe I’m just out of the loop.
I never said black folks ain’t worth a dam. Those are your words. Black people don’t have self love that’s why we killing up each other in our neighborhoods that’s why we want to be accepted by whites so bad. Like I wrote, sorry if the truth hurts. Our self esteem has been shot. The victim chant is old. The truth is what we have to deal with. We are not there yet. Maybe in a couple of generations. If LV starts to lose customers with old money they are finished. Black people don’t have the money or prestige. take it how you want.
You don’t have to be rich to purchase something from the LV store.
LV is a French company.
No you have to be able to afford it. Spending an income tax check on a LV bag is just stupid.
Whatever dude…
Toodles
Uhmmmmm. Lol ? that’s so funny Trying way to hard but I loved what Marc Jacobs did with it…. the jacket looked real cool though..
They sound envious of his position.
It isn’t black. It’s a white troll ignore it.
Ignore this white troll. It pretends to be black.
Shush Opie.
Ohh wow
It trolls on all the black sites spouting the same nonsense. Just the name “ TransMichelle” should give you an idea of where this miserable lice demon is coming from.
Sorry it seems so harsh but it’s the way it is. We have a lot of growing to do.
Ok, so hiring him got them their desired results, more black customers, of course this won’t please their long-time clientele!
Outfitting rappers is advertising, and who is their customer, target market?
But, dude did his job, and yes, it cheapens the brand because it [LV label] use to be a symbol of wealth and an upscale status, certain income brackets!
Well-heeled affluent blacks won’t be interested in the brand either, when ‘poor people’ [everyday joes] ride with the LV brand!
Keep out of it Big Bird
Let me guess, race has nothing do with it.
Every one wants to talk about Migos….shid I’m glad their fashion taste has expanded beyond a fuckin white tee and some Jordan’s. They look like rock stars, while Kanye “the designer” looks a damn fool up there in some damn shower shoes. He looks crazy as hell and his wife let him leave they mansion dressed like a damn Mexican.
Okay I never saw all that style and fashion with Kanye that people claimed he brought… yes he bought seriously expensive clothes and talked fashion and was kinda nice with it but his style looked a lot like Marc jacobs .. .. maybe the backpacker look? ?? Alright people love to give people credit for styles and sauce so to each it’s own. I like the way jay z dressed way better.
People like Kelis I consider forward fashion and style wise.
The family blogs stand to be corrected. Please check your facts. https://fashionunfiltered.com/news/2018/kim-jones-final-collection-louis-vuitton-fall-2018-recap/
https://www.crfashionbook.com/fashion/a15338213/watch-kim-jones-final-louis-vuitton-runway/
It’s only been a few months. Geesh.
Now that LV made their money off of the stupid black entertainers they want to disassociate themselves! Much like Cryst’al did!
And Koonye is wearing Kums slippers cause his feet were hurting in his shoes or he forgot his shoes!
Kanye looks like Jay looked in that suit he wore in that video he made with Bey in the art museum (like a banana ass Pimp with n freeo shit akward)! I beleive he slipped on Kim’s slippers because either he forgott his shoes or the doors he wore was killing his feet and Kim had those as en extra pair for herself.
Koonye Kardashian looked like he had on his late Mama’s double knit suit from Sears. LV is over now, too hood/tacky.
They hating on him because he is black ( African bred), Gucci’s oversaturated fashions far more cheapen its brand than LV. Off-White and Abloh’s Nike designs have been hotly selling items for years and that was the reason LV hired him to bring some of that success to LV’s menswear that has been running (far) behind to the likes of Gucci and Balenciaga
Tell you a little something it was not crystal that wanted to disassociate themselves it’s was high end business that wanted to disassociate from crystal because they didn’t want blacks coming to their venues to buy it.FACTS
I think he have went nuts did you see him try to offer lol Wayne some desserts
Well for someone who professes to be black you have the worst case of inferiority complex i have recently come across! Could you lick the azzses of arabs asians and white people any harder..no i don’t think so, I’d hate to see you around this set of people, an arab will probably give you a hot slap for no reason and you’d probably say thank you massa
Jealous of what may i ask? I’m just curiously amused at that statement as I’m not entirely sure what i have to be jealous about
you think yves saint laurent never made any mistakes when he was at the healm of dior? Abloh is a young artist give him a chance to find his feet his own people savaging him and trying to bring him down uggghhh
Burlington coat factory? Stein m as Ryan? Dillard I can slighlty see. They carry some high end items.
Oh please, many fashion designers, get there designs from the street wear and gay black men. That’s the truth.
Fendi has really made a come back.
I would say higher taste, rather for elite who can afford a 5 to 10k purchase.
White people don’t like us being able to afford those brands. I was walking into Nordstrom and my bag set off the alarm. The lady was oh you have a real one. The newer ones have chips inside.
Foods, ohy goodness you are hilarious.
Another thing whites have stolen from us. Recipes. Can’t get no kale now..for them juicing it.????
True, but not all are genuine, but replicas. Besides they are so many other bags, that are less or more expensive that all leather.
They are not, but they are making a push. The definitely cater to ubsn clientele. Imo
Your mind is twisted and you living a lie. If you can’t take the truth and criticism then you are a detriment to black people not an asset. I know how far we have to go I don’t pretend we’re already there. Plus black people are not a monolith and if I wasn’t black I would admit it. Bye Felicia your narrative is tired.
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/345c238593b7a5c87413d91275c47a076f3e80aa22063be71e7a32745f58c36b.gif
Did you read my post or are you just a moron? Black people do not have the midas touch they do not maintain status for anything. Look at our neighborhoods and you will see what I mean. Those brands were built on old money from whites and many Arabs not by black people. We don’t have the financial status or the clout. Get real
Stop trying to deflect. Black people destroy everything we touch that’s why when we get some money we want to move away from other black people. Unluckily, It’s still important to black people to be accepted in white society.
From your post it seems like you dont’ know much of anything. Sit down child
It’s “Vintage” estate items which were manufacturered by the former/original company founders. The LV they’re selling is like-new top pristine condition, however slightly used. Yes! Various retailers are selling these “Vintage” items. Think about it, Dillard’s along with the rest mentioned never sold LV. ItsI a luxury brand that’s always have been sold in exclusive high end retailers. Dillard’s ain’t high end ???
Again, they’re worth more than what’s mfg by the current company.
Don’t his purses sell in the $thousands$? If you can afford a $1000 purse, you’re rich to me. richer than me. $1000 would kill me. Put me in the poor house.
@Malcolm, you are sooo right. I had to look at that suit again. It does look like a Sears suit!
I took another look at Migo, and that look is Overdone! Way overdone!
All i will say is i hope you’re not raising any black children, you will transfer your inferiority complex to them, the boys you will make feel worthless and the girls you will tell them they can be someone when they literally and metaphorically licking an arab arse for money now run along and don’t forget to pick up your inferiority complex as you go ?
I partially agree. Out in the midwest, Dillards stores resemble Saks. My parents lived out there for 10 years.
I’ve seen vintage items LV in Lord and Taylor’s who now owns Saks. Unlike other retailers. LV never goes on sale, unlike MK, coach, Katespade, even Gucci. This is there way of getting rid of older items.
Who TF ARE YOU , the Crystal representative? IDGAF about your fact finding… You make your comment as if I CARE THAT MUCH… YOU ARE NOT TELLING ME SHAT,! My commen/opinion about Crystals disassociation remains!. Calm your DEFENSIVE FACT FINDING AZZ DOWN Robert E Lee Bennet Ain’t In It! Geesh!
Really? They said the same thing about black people buying homes in white neighborhoods, now they pushed black people out, because those areas are now valuable. Money is green, no matter if a Martian, or Black person is spending it. SMH!
You dreaming. So because your bag set off the alarm it means white folks don’t want black folks affording name brands? You trippin. Our people need to stop this and get real.
It’s not his designs, it’s what the people who wear them choose to do with them. Migos looks a hot ass mess, but that is the way they always dress. And Kanye just didn’t look clean cut in the suit and chose to pair it with too little shoes. I am getting “they don’t want black people” or “this brand is not for the hip hop/urban culture” vibe from those comments. In my opinion, one of the most tackiest things Louis Vuitton ever did was come out with the rainbow colored monogram prints. I got so sick of seeing it and that was done by a Japanese artist.
Right! I remember back in junior high school, during the eighties, this girl in my class was always wearing LV, MCM, Chanel, you name it. She was how most of the Black kids learned about name brands because none of our parents could afford it. And everything she had would be monogramed out! Now that I think back, I believe it was all knock offs. lol Because her mom was a school counselor, so there’s no way she was able to afford authentic name brands for her and her daughter. Cause this chick would be draped everyday. I’m talking MCM leather (more than likely pleather) shorts with the top and the purse. lol No way! She had a set like that in LV too. I think her mama was getting that stuff at a swap meet in Vegas or Cali. smh But anyway, I just chuckle to myself when I see these young generations walking around in these brands like they’ve discovered the unknown.
I’m not sure what you meant to say. My day nor life is not made up of materials items.
And yes, Many White HATE black people doing well. They think every black person struggled to get where they are. They think we are on food stamps. Every job or college we attended was afforded to us by affirmative action. I bid you peaceful day.
Fukk sh!t up, Virg! THEY been doing it to us fuh-eva! Folks get mad when you pull a them on them.
If you can’t take the truth and criticism then you are a detriment to black people not an asset. I know how far we have to go I don’t pretend we’re already there.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^&&&&&&&&^^^^^^
Give truth &guidance. See if that, instead of lies/oppression, will lift the black community
Chill bruh bruh i was just tell you about that brand and how things goes
Maybe that’s your means as a come up!! But like I said you don’t have to be rich to shop at the LV store!
He cheapened the brand by having tacky Black entertainers wear it. If he had classy Black entertainers like Oprah, Tyler Perry, LeBron or Venus/Serena wearing his designs then there wouldn’t be an issue.
I agree with everything you stated except Off-White made designs that looked like they were for teenagers so Idk how he was going to steer that brand into luxury.
He should experiment on mannequins, not humans lol
They are pricey. If you save here and there and have nothing else that’s more important to spend your money own go for it!
You have to have money to like it quiet…. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/ab5aa2e1aa645b69c8815a78e11546204833f8c1d1dbdc724b6cca6e1c2c2d30.gif
Bernard has a Board of Directors, they would be the one deciding whether this guy stays or goes. It could take months of meetings. It’s not just Bernard’s decision alone.
That’s the thing though, most of these Black entertainers can *not* afford LV on their own. Many of their items are borrowed or 2nd hand.
No ma’am apparently you talking about IG celebs. You don’t have to be rich to shop at LV. I would never buy one used and I’m not an entertainer.
obviously
My point was, they may want him to go and haven’t found his replacement yet lol So just because he’s still there doesn’t mean he’s wanted.
I’m not talking about IG “celebs” lol You don’t have to be rich but you do need to have that kind of disposable income….so for entertainers, the majority of whom are running on credit card debt, if they are wearing it, they can’t afford it.
Sounds like a lot of HATING bc a black man has stepped into the LV brand
Very True! Capitalism and Consumerism is built off of volume sales, mass merchandising (Amazon, Macy’s, Walmart), exclusion and exclusivity (Saks, Neiman, Nordstrom), and certain brands are built to have a ‘snob-appeal!’
Good to know about the chips inside, doubt I will buying a LV bag, but they are my favorite of all the logo bags!
White folks have better things to do than to fill their heads constantly with black folks mess. It doesn’t make sense how we as black people stay on white folks while they going on and doing what they have to do. Whites trying to keep their neighborhoods and businesses safe from ghetto hoodlums. And no I’m not a trannie before you even try it.
You have to dam near be. They don’t accept layaway.
First I don’t care if you are circus monkey. What you are is delusional. Personally I stay keeping from them. They lie, cheat and steal every opportunity they get. Oh and they are also stay killing their families. They are not to be trusted.
In a nutshell.
It wasn’t long before WHITE PEOPLE— LV customers—- complained loudly that Abloh (A BLACK MAN) was cheapening the brand.(BY CUSTOMIZING clothes for BLACK people).
There you go….I fixed it.
Yeah or just that virgil sucks at designing, steals everything and never deserved to even be there
And just happens to be black
But that didnt cross your racist mind now did it ??
