The feds released this mugshot of Cesar Sayoc Jr., of Aventura, Florida, who is suspected of mailing suspicious packages to top Democrats in Florida and New York.
Sayoc, 56, was taken into federal custody at an auto parts store on Friday morning.
Sayoc’s white van was plastered with pro-Trump stickers on the windows and bumpers. The van was towed from the suspect’s home to a secure F.B.I. facility in Miami.
President Trump praised law enforcement for the swift capture of the suspect.
“It’s like a needle in a haystack,” Trump said. “And they have done an incredible, incredible job.”
Sayoc’s criminal record includes making bomb threats and committing petty thefts. According to an arrest affidavit, Sayoc walked out of a Walmart with a shopping cart filled with $239 worth of merchandise.
Sayoc filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and had a property foreclosed on in 2009, according to NBC news.
A cousin of the suspect told NBC News she was stunned by Sayoc’s arrest.
“Oh my God. He’s always been a very nice, thoughtful person. I don’t know anything about this. It’s shocking,” said the woman, who asked to remain anonymous.
