Bernie Sanders has announced his intention to run for President of the United States again. Bernie was famously sabotaged by his own Party in favor of the Democrat’s choice for President – Hillary Clinton. Their decision backfired badly when Trump upset Clinton to win the election by a landslide in 2016.
Ever since Donald Trump was elected President, the Democrats have thrown everything at him – including the proverbial kitchen sink.
A 2-year investigation into possible collusion with the Russians turned up nothing. And the Democratic Party is desperate to find a suitable candidate to topple Trump.
Enter Bernie Sanders, the 77-year-old Senator from Vermont – who will instantly become the Party favorite now that Clinton has no chance to run again.
“Together, you and I and our 2016 campaign began the political revolution,” Bernie said in an email and a video announcing his candidacy on Tuesday. “Now, it is time to complete that revolution and implement the vision that we fought for.”
Bernie previously ran on a platform that included everything from Medicare for all to a $15 minimum wage and free college tuition.
According to NBC News, early polls show Bernie way ahead of the crowded pack in the 2020 race. He trails only Vice President Joe Biden, whose chances are doomed thanks to his troubling inability to keep his hands off women and girl children.
Bernie may not be the Democrats’ first choice but he is their only chance to realistically beat Trump in 2020.
Rumor has it that former President Barack Obama and TV mogul Oprah Winfrey are grooming Texas politician Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke for the White House in 2020. But O’Rourke, who lost the Senate race to Ted Cruz in 2018, has his own past issues that may prove to be his undoing.
Question: Can the Democratic Party screw up their chances again?
