Former New England Patriot WR Chad Ochocinco is no longer unemployed. The 34-year-old reality TV star, whose real name is Chad Johnson, signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins on Monday, according to the Miami Herald.
Johnson grew up in the seedy Liberty City neighborhood of Miami and attended Miami Beach high school.
He worked out with the Dolphins on Monday — four days after he being released by the Patriots for underperforming.
Chad’s final year with the Patriots was unremarkable.
Last year he caught 15 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown in 15 regular season games and he caught just one pass for 21 yards in the Super Bowl.
Before the Dolphins signed Johnson, an NFL scout told The Miami Herald on Monday that Ochocinco seemed to have lost his explosiveness and might not bring enough for the $925,000 10-year veteran minimum a team would have to pay him.
But the Dolphins signed him anyway. Good luck with that.
