Buffalo police and SWAT teams are searching for a prominent surgeon who is a “person of interest” in the shooting death of a 33-year-old woman Wednesday morning.
Jacqueline Wisniewski was a receptionist at ECMC hospital where Dr. Timothy Jorden saw patients. Jorden is suspected of shooting and killing Ms. Wisniewski in the stairwell of an office building next to the main hospital.
Co-workers say they heard four pops around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. Within minutes police swarmed the hospital and locked down the campus.
Arriving patients were redirected to nearby Buffalo General hospital’s emergency room. Hospital workers and medical students weren’t allowed to enter the hospital grounds until 2 p.m. The shooting took place while 400 patients and half of the hospital’s 2000 employees were on the property.
According to the Associated Press, police blocked a road leading to Dr. Jorden’s home in an exclusive area of private lake view homes near Lake Erie.
Jorden, 49, a former Army Special Forces medic, was licensed to practice medicine in New York in 2002 and held privileges to treat patients at the medical center and other major hospitals in the area.
Jorden is married with one son. He was certified in advanced-trauma life support, and he received numerous awards and recognition for his teaching skills and his involvement in the community, according to the AP.
“It’s a very sad day for ECMC and our community,” said Jody Lomeo, the medical center’s chief executive officer. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim.”

She was a peon.. Not a nurse, a grunt worker like most… So, she saw an opportunity and took it. She was an opportunist . She got with him and everything was great until he came down from his “dopamine” high.. He realized it wasn’t worth losing all he worked for, including his wife and child, so he tried to break it off and she threatned him. Now, they are going to flip it, and make it look like, she was the poor single mother, trying to better for herself and her kid and he was the big bad wolf taking advantage of her.. GTFOH…. It is what it is and the only people I feel sorry for are the kids and the wife….
