The blazing hot Miami Heat have a date with destiny tonight in game 5 of the NBA Finals. And the hapless OKC Thunder have a flight to catch back home to Oklahoma City.
The Miami Heat, led by LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, are just one win away from the NBA championship.
The Heat have a commanding 3-1 lead over the Thunder in the best-of-seven series. LeBron, 27, and Dwyane Wade, 30, have experience (total 18 years combined), talent and destiny on their side.
The young upstart Kevin Durant, 23, has only been in the NBA for 5 years. The Thunder don’t have an answer for the big 5: LeBron, D.Wade, Chris Bosh, Mario Chalmers and Shane Battier. And no other team has come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the NBA Finals since the NBA adopted the 2-3-2 format.
LeBron, the league’s Most Valuable Player this season, is still ringless after 9 years in the NBA (2 of those seasons with the Heat). Miami would have won the NBA title in 2011 if it weren’t for Dirk Nowitzki and the pesky offense of the Dallas Mavericks.
But the self destructive offense of the Thunder, led by point guard Russell Westbrook, won’t be an obstacle tonight. The game has changed a lot in one year.
The 2 teams will tip off a little after 9 p.m., and the coronation of King James will begin approximately 48 minutes later.
Destiny awaits.

The first year Bosh and James joined the team they made it all the way to the Finals. They lost but they made it. This year they’re in the Finals and have a 3-1. How exactly has it “not worked”?

Supporting the home team tonight! Lets get it Miami!! Don’t see why people hate them so much! Lebron left Cleveland but so what. Kevin Garnett left the Timberwolves and went to Boston to win a ring because he knew it wasn’t happening with the Timberwolves. People leave teams all the time thats why its called free agency. As a basketball fan though this has been a great series. Probably one of the best finals in a while and all of these games could’ve gone either way. It won’t be an easy win but I’m cheering for the Heat to close this out in front of the home crowd!!

@Tainted didn’t the Lakers bring in Shaq to help Kobe?? He didn’t win a ring before Shaq left the Magic for L.A. After Shaq left they had to rebuild the team to get another championship. Teams are built through drafting and free agency to get a championship. Some people stay with the same team that drafted them some don’t. And Wade isn’t #2. Miami is still Wade County! Lebron and Bosh just bring a different dynamic to the team.
