Simone Biles made her rumored romance with NFL player Jonathan Owens Instagram official — after scrubbing photos of her previous boyfriend from her social media accounts.
“It’s just us,” Biles captioned the image. Owens, 25, who signed with the Houston Texans last September, responded with red heart emojis.
Rumors that the two were dating sprang up weeks ago when Biles wished Owens a happy birthday, according to Instagram blog The Shade Room.
“Hope this year brings you everything you want & more,” she wrote.
Almost immediately, the bisexual rumors started, as Owens looked a little too effeminate for The Shade Room‘s tastes. Neither Biles nor Owens addressed the bisexual rumors.
The 23-year-old Olympic gymnast spent weeks scrubbing hundreds of photos of ex-boyfriend and fellow gymnast Stacey Ervin Jr. from her accounts after three years of dating.
Biles confirmed their breakup earlier this year after her followers observed Ervin was noticeably absent from her social media.
“It’s hard being young and having that long of a relationship and then ending it,” the 4-foot-8 gymnast told Vogue. “But it was for the best.”
Biles’ friends and followers warned her about plastering her love life all over social media even before the breakup.
Apparently Biles isn’t aware that social media has been dubbed the silent relationship killer.
