Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta cast members Sierra Gates and BK Brasco recently announced their engagement.
Sierra, who appeared on 3 seasons of LHHATL before being promoted to the main cast in season 9, accepted Brasco’s proposal at the grand opening of his men’s store, Band of Brothers, on Dec. 5.
The couple celebrated their engagement in Instagram photos snapped at maskless parties in Atlanta area nightclubs.
In an interview with MadameNoire, the couple talked about their future and their unorthodox relationship.
Sierra said that the success of their relationship is due to their decision to be celibate for a year.
“We love each other like love. A different type of love. We even took sex out of the equation for a whole year,” she said, adding that God told Brasco that He would bless him if he didn’t touch her for a year.
“When he told me that I was like, ‘Boy, you just wanna cheat! Do what you wanna do!’ And he was like, ‘I really need to do this for my own mental. I really need to line myself up and I really need to be a better man for you.'”
Sierra claims it’s completely normal to be celibate for a year while in a relationship.
“Honestly, I promise y’all, once we took that sex out of the equation, we found a deeper love for each other. Inseparable. We can lay next to each other. Most people like to be physical with each other. We can lay next to each other and just don’t touch and be laughing, having a good time looking at movies, arguing, laughing again, cooking. Spending time with each other.”
