Sean Combs’ mother Janice Combs and his children were seen leaving a Manhattan courthouse after attending a pretrial hearing.
The family held hands as they left court without speaking to reporters outside.
Janice, 84, was accompanied by Combs’s sons Justin and Christian Combs, and daughters Jessie, D’Lila, and Chance Combs. Quincy Combs (2nd from right), son of Al B. Sure! with the late Kim Porter, also attended the hearing. He was unrecognizable with a newly cut blond hairstyle.
Christian Combs held hands with Lala, a friend of his late mother, Kim Porter. Lala has legal guardianship over Kim’s 17-year-old twins, Jessie and D’Lila, who live with her in California.
Notorious attorney Gloria Allred, who represents at least one of Combs’ accusers, flew in from California to attend the hearing.
Thursday’s pretrial hearing was Combs’s first before U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who took over the case from Judge Andrew Carter, who recused himself after denying Combs’ bond in September.
Combs (seen in an artist’s sketch) entered the courtroom through a side door. He was dressed in tan jail-issued shirt and pants. The rapper, 54, smiled and hugged his legal team before bowing and waving at his family and friends sitting in the courtroom.

Judge Subramanian asked Combs’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, if he wanted to file an application under the “Speedy Trial Act.”
Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson objected to the speedy trial act. “We move to exclude time under the Act, it’s already tolled by the motion,” she said.
Judge Subramanian said, “I exclude time until December 18. I have no application for bail before me… So Mr. Combs will remain detained. We are adjourned.”
Also on Thursday, Oct. 10, the 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals denied Combs’ request for an “immediate release” on bond. But his main request for bail will still be heard by the same three-judge panel at a later date.
