Serena Williams shut down those annoying skin bleaching rumors again. For the past year the retired tennis champion has been accused of bleaching her skin. The soccer mom’s skin looks lighter in photos due to makeup, lighting, the angle of the sun, etc.
Serena let her fans know that she is not bleaching her skin after rumors swirled online again.
“For you haters out there, I do not bleach my skin,” Serena said in a new video. “There is a thing called sunlight, and in that sunlight you get different colors,” she explained while applying makeup.
Serena said she doesn’t have time to correct her photos to darken her skin when she’s out in the sun. She wants you to take her word for it that the sun lightens her skin about 3 shades lighter.
Serena said she volunteered at her daughter’s stage play recently and she wore stage makeup that made her skin appear lighter.
“Yes, I’m calling you out on this because it is ridiculous that everyone’s like, ‘oh she bleached her skin.'”
“I’m a dark Black woman and I love who I am and I love how I look, and that’s just not my thing,” she said. “If people [bleach], that’s their thing and they have every opportunity and they should. I don’t judge – but you guys do [judge] and that’s what this world is about,” she added.
Serena said she stays in her “non-judging lane” and she doesn’t ever bleach her skin.
