Earlier this year, President Donald Trump promised $5,000 DOGE dividend checks to American taxpayers. According to The US Sun, those checks are closer to becoming reality.

Speaking to a reporter, President Trump said that he is considering giving millions of Americans a $5,000 rebate check.

Trump plans to send $5,000 rebate checks to qualified Americans based on the billions in revenue generated from his tariffs.

“We have so much money coming in, we’re thinking about a little rebate,” Trump said. “But the big thing we want to do is pay down debt.”

“We’re thinking about a rebate because we have so much money coming in from tariffs that a little rebate for people of a certain income level might be very nice.”

On Monday, July 28, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) introduced legislation to send rebate checks of at least $600 to low-income Americans. The bill is similar to the stimulus checks sent to Americans during COVID.

“Like President Trump proposed, my legislation would allow hard-working Americans to benefit from the wealth that Trump’s tariffs are returning to this country,” Hawley said in a statement on Monday.

This is welcome news to taxpayers who are tightening their belts as gas and grocery bills soar.

Trump first teased $5,000 DOGE checks when Elon Musk was the head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

Democrats were skeptical when President Trump said some Americans will receive $2,000 checks on August 1. It seems Trump will have the last laugh.

“Payments start on August 1st,” the President told a reporter earlier this month. “The only thing that’s really sacred about August 1st is that’s when payments start. So they have to start paying billions of dollars to you and people,” Trump added.
