Chicago residents are rejoicing after President Trump ordered the National Guard to takeover the Windy City.

Trump said the National Guard and other military assets will be deployed in Chicago, where violent crime is a normal way of life.

Chicago residents have cried out for help since the National Guard cleaned up the streets of Washington, D.C.

One resident told ABC 7, “The National Guard has to come here. Even if it’s for a scare tactic. They have to come here. There’s no control, there’s no law and order.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said over 450 arrests were made in Washington, D.C. over the past several weeks.

As a result, the streets of D.C. are safe for citizens to walk without fear of violent crime.

D.C. residents are expressing their gratitude to the federal government for making the streets safe again.

Trump called Chicago a “disaster” and he said it will take more than a week for the National Guard to run the gangbangers and other criminals out of the city.

Trump said New York City is next after the federal takeover of Chicago gets underway.

However, some Democrat lawmakers are resisting the federal government’s efforts to clean up the streets.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said he will take legal action if necessary to resist the National Guard taking over his city.

“What the president is attempting to do will be costly, illegal and unconstitutional,” Johnson said at a press conference. “The brave men and women who signed up to serve our country did not sign up to occupy American cities,” he added.
