Actress Tracee Ellis Ross explained why she’s open and transparent about living through the loneliness epidemic.
In a recent interview to promote her hit Roku series “Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross,” the “Girlfriends” star said she’s not afraid to be “transparent” about being lonely.
“What I am not afraid to do is be transparent about the reality of my humanity. Because it is where we all connect. We all get lonely. It’s not evidence that my life is broken,” she said in a video.
“People in marriages get lonely. So it is evidence that I am a human being who lives and has feelings. Like, I wanted to bring some of that forward because there must be some examples that are between Joan of Arc and cat ladies. Like, you can live a stunning, gorgeous, delicious, full, robust and wonderful life and still be lonely, and still have sadness, and still have shame and heartbreak and all of those things.”
In April, Tracee revealed she seeks out younger men for companionship because men her age are “toxic.”
The actress was a guest on Michelle Obama’s podcast, where she explained her preference for dating much younger men.
“It’s not just that I’m older, I’m also very embodied… I am a fully very whole person who knows myself, who is in charge of my life and who lives a very full, just … robust life.”
She continued: “It’s not just age, it’s like life experience and sort of a difference. But I had to ask myself the question ‘Why? Why does this keep sort of coming up – other than they’re hot and gorgeous.'”

Tracee wore Dior to the L.A. premiere of Eddie Murphy’s Netflix documentary film “Being Eddie” on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
She wore a pleated silk blouse with black lace collar and black wide-legged capri pants from designer Jonathan Anderson’s Dior’s 2026 Spring/Summer collection.
From Y! Entertainment:
I’m sure the moment you clocked the pleated reverse-collar top, your mind immediately went to Dior — specifically Jonathan Anderson’s Dior — and you’d be absolutely right. This ivory silk top paired with black wool cropped trousers hails from the brand’s Spring 2026 collection, a collection that has left some of us torn when it comes to its red carpet viability.
