Actor Patrick Muldoon died of a heart attack at his Beverly Hills home on Sunday, April 19. His manager confirmed his death to Variety. He was 57.

Muldoon’s sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, told TMZ that he was found unresponsive by his girlfriend in a bathroom at his Beverly Hills home. Paramedics performed CPR but were unable to revive him.

Muldoon was best known for his role as Austin Reed on the daytime soap opera “Days of Our Lives”. He returned to the soap to reprise the role. Muldoon also played villain Richard Hart on the primetime soap opera “Melrose Place”.

Muldoon also had a recurring role as Jeffrey Hunter in the teen television series “Saved by the Bell” in 1991. In 1997, Muldoon played the role of Zander Barcalow in the film “Starship Troopers.”

His latest acting role was in “Dirty Hands,” a new crime thriller with Denise Richards and Michael Beach to be released later this month.

Tributes poured in on social media on Monday.

Starship Troopers co-star Casper Van Dien wrote that he was “deeply saddened, devastated and overwhelmed” by the news. Van Dien said that Muldoon’s “kindness, humor and love” were among his greatest gifts.

“I’ve lost the friend I could be the most authentic version of myself with,” he wrote. “Over thirty-six years of friendship. Can’t believe you’re gone. RIP, brother.”

Just 2 days before he died, Muldoon shared a post on Instagram about a new crime thriller film called “Kockroach” starring Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton.

“So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH directed by Matt Ross starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Edgerton, Zazzie Beetz and Alec Baldwin,” Muldoon wrote in the caption of the post.

Muldoon was credited as an executive producer on the movie, which is “filming now in Australia.”
