Fab Morvan, the only remaining member of disgraced R&B duo Milli Vanilli, issued a statement confirming he will perform at Freedom 250, celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

Some performers cancelled their appearance at the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., over its connection to President Donald Trump.

Jodie Rocco (right), one of the singers who vocalized Milli Vanilli’s songs, told the Associated Press neither she nor her twin sister, Linda, had been asked to perform at the state fair. “My sister and I were shocked to see our name, ‘Milli Vanilli’ as one of the performers,” Rocco wrote in an email to the AP.

The Rocco sisters were among several studio singers who vocalized Milli Vanilli’s original songs. It was later revealed that Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus only lip-synced the songs. Pilatus died of an accidental drug overdose in 1998 after their Best New Artist Grammy award was revoked.

Fab Morvan says he will perform at the state fair that runs from June 25 to July 10 on Washington, D.C.’s National Mall.

He issued a statement on Thursday, saying:

“I am here to entertain and unite people, not divide them. Let’s celebrate life & music and take a trip down memory lane. I feel honored to be a part of the Great American State Fair as it will celebrate the 250 Year Anniversary of America with so many other accomplished artists. Looking forward to reconnecting with you across the USA this summer and to finally sing Milli Vanilli songs live in person!”

Old skool rapper Young MC canceled his appearance at the state fair because the event is “politically charged.”

“The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event,” he wrote. “And despite the claims by the organizers that the event is non-partisan, SPIN magazine describes it as Trump-backed. I hope to perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged.”

Others who will skip America’s 250th Birthday celebration include Morris Day of Morris Day and the Time, Milli Vanilli (original singers), The Commodores, Martina McBride, and Bret Michaels. Morris Day claims he was never booked to perform in the first place.
