According to the Chicago Tribune, the contentious divorce proceedings between NBA star Dwyane Wade and his estranged wife Siovaughn Funches-Wade will draw to a close on Friday.
A Cook County judge has agreed to grant a divorce for NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade and his estranged wife, ending more than two years of contention, Wade’s lawyer said.
Judge Marya Nega will grant the divorce between Dwyane Wade and Siohvaughn Wade in court on Friday, and save custody and assets proceedings for a later date, said Jim Pritikin, Dwyane Wade’s divorce attorney.
“Mr. Wade has waited patiently for almost three years for this day to arrive,” Pritikin said Tuesday night. “It is in the best interest of the Wade children that their parents’ marriage be dissolved.”
In an earlier court proceeding, the judge granted Wade temporary custody of his two sons, who are 3 and 8.
Last month, Judge Nega slammed Siohvaughn Wade in open court after she fired her ninth lawyer. The judge had issued a bench warrant for Siovaughn Wade’s arrest after she missed a custody hearing. Wade later turned herself in and paid the $10,000 bond.
The next custody hearing is scheduled for July 19.
Glad it’s almost over because I’m tired of hearing about it.

Anna that’s what alot of people think, but no. Any money he comes into after the date that the divorce/seperation was filed with the court is his. It would come into play in the child support proceedings but not alimony and by acting like a psycho she may end up losing custody of those kids permenantly in which case there won’t be a whirlwind child support payment for her. Her lawyers probably explained that to her and she probably thought she knew everything listening to people she knew and now she’s gonna be the dumbest broad to ever get divorced from a NBA player

i haven’t been in that situation so for me, i could never say 100% what i would do. however, my personal conviction to do the right thing would cause me to put forth my best effort and remain celibate until the marriage was legally ended.
and if she hadn’t been ackin’ a daggone fool, the divorce wouldn’t have taken 3 years. i think she’d have had a better shot at reconciling the marriage if she had exhibited some class and dignity when the going got rough.

that all depends on your personal convictions which most often are religion-based. since we’re all different, i don’t think there’s a “right” answer to whether or not you remain celibate. what’s “right” in one person’s mind may seem archaic and unrealistic to someone else. some folks might even dam.n you to hel.l for not remaining celibate during the divorce.
i like the name siovaughn, like the guy from love jones, who ironically, was in a bad marriage too; wifey left him for a short time.
I try not to take sides on whose wrong and whose right in these high-profiled divorces. Because we weren’t there, so we don’t know the true and whole story.

I think people cut Kimora slack because Russell had already publicly moved on and she didn’t rant/rave about. She acted(in public) as if she didn’t mind. It’s harder to watch when one party is done versus both being done at the same time. I think she was trying to save her marriage and in the midst lost herself(sanity). “They’ll be divorced. The marriage is dissolved. Period,” Siohvaughn Wade’s attorney, Michael Kalcheim, said after the hearing. “And on Monday an appeal will be filed.”
Kalcheim opposed dividing the case, as the judge ordered, dissolving the marriage first and then, separately, resolving the financial issues. He argued that those issues usually must be resolved in a single divorce judgment and that, on the basis of past Illinois Supreme Court rulings, shouldn’t be split up except in extreme circumstances, such as one party being unable to pay child support or alimony.
Kalcheim said the move could complicate the issue of how to divide the couple’s assets as the basketball star becomes a free agent on July 1.

oh, Sio is pronounced Sha as in Shavaughn. I just recently learned that. Didn’t know Siobhan was also pronounced Shavon. Of course we say it’s ghetto when mostly white people spell Sha as Sio.
