Japanese power company officials have conceded defeat in their battle to contain the leak of dangerous levels of radiation from the Fukushima Nuclear plant.

Japan today announced plans to encase the leaking reactor in a tomb of concrete amid reports that the radiation fallout from Japan is affecting our food supply in the United States.

Additionally, radiation levels in seawater outside the nuclear plant is over 5,000 times the normal level. Fishermen have been warned to operate in waters at least 13 miles from the damaged nuclear plant. But that's not nearly far enough for American consumers and seafood restaurants that rely on fish imported from Japan.

According to online reports, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced very low traces of radiation particles were found in milk in Washington state and California.

Results from screening samples of milk taken in the past week in Spokane, Washington, and in San Luis Obispo County, California, detected radioactive iodine at a level 5,000 times lower than the limit set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, officials said.

But traces of radiation can build up in the body over time. Click here to read the signs and symptoms of radiation poisoning.

Exact details haven't been revealed, but Japanese officials, with the assistance of U.S. gov. agencies, plan to shut down all four crippled reactors and abandon attempts to cool down the exposed fuel rods. The final move involves pouring tons of concrete onto the reactors to entomb the reactor cores and stop the leak of radiation.

At a time when black women should be applauded for taking that first step toward financial independence by opening their own businesses, one Texas woman is struggling to defend the name of her business.

Lakita Evans is keeping the name of her new burger joint despite the growing protests from civic minded people who say the name "Fat Ho Burgers" is offensive to a small segment of society.

Evans says that people are offended by the name simply because they aren't familiar with urban slang. "It's not calling people a ho. It's just like they say, 'Oooh that ho is big,' or, 'That ho is tight!"' she told Fox News.

In the black community, the term "ho" is freely applied to people as well as to things. For instance, a brotha might spot a hot car and say, "That ho is fat!"

Other local business owners don't see it that way. They say the 23-year-old is just using the name as a publicity stunt to draw attention to her business.

Pastor Marsha Martie, owner of the nearby Gospel Cafe, said: "[It] would've been nice to think a little more sensitively."

But Evans says people should be more concerned with what's going on in the world rather than the name of her burger joint.

"Look what's going on in Japan. It's like clear this world is not gonna get any better. Why cry and be depressed? The economy is bad. Somebody gotta keep a sense of humour around here," she said.

Yesterday I reported that rapper and entrepreneur Chris "Ludacris" Bridges' restaurant Straits failed its last inspection in January with a score of 67. We're happy to report that Straits was re-inspected today by the health department and it passed the inspection with a score of 98!

PR Guru Liz Lapidus writes:

Hi Sandra!!! Just wanted to let you know that Straits was re-inspected today and scored a 98 out of 100. Guess someone at the Fulton Co Dept of Health and Wellness must read your blog!!

Ludacris' publicist, the esteemed Liz Lapidus, reached out to Sandrarose.com with Ludacris' personal response to my post from earlier today entitled: "Ludacris' Restaurants Straits Fails Health Inspection."

Unfortunately - yes, our most recent health inspection score is unacceptable. Serving fabulous food in a clean and welcoming environment is a top priority for us. While we scored 91 on our 2010 inspection, the codes have since changed and thus we were sited for breaking new codes such as permits posted 15-feet from entrance instead of 19-feet and not having actual "no smoking" signs posted in the building. Our kitchen remains spotless and cleanliness is a huge priority for us. We have fixed all of the violations and are waiting for a new inspection. We will report the results accordingly.

Liz just emailed again to add: "the health inspector comes back this week for a re-inspection that we expect to ace!!"

Grammy Award winning Soul legend Aretha Franklin is planning a triumphant return to the stage in May, according to Billboard.com.

The singer, who underwent gastric bypass surgery (according to inside sources) in early December, will play her first concert since the surgery on May 28 at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Buffalo, N.Y.

Though she's feeling better than she has in years, Ms. Franklin, 68, steadfastly refuses to admit she had gastric bypass surgery done. She's not alone; many celebrities have undergone the procedure and then lied about it, saying they lost the weight through diet and exercise.

It's too bad that celebrities won't use their high profile access to the public to talk about the health benefits of gastric bypass surgery. What it is about human nature that makes us deny self-improvement procedures as if these procedures are somehow taboo?

Since her surgery, Aretha has focused on her diet, which she changed drastically per doctor's orders. She is noticeably slimmer but she won't say how much weight she lost.

Instead, Ms. Franklin talks about maintaining the weight she's at now. "I want to not only maintain the weight I am at now, but better it, by one dress size," the Queen of Soul said Wednesday in a phone interview with The Associated Press.

Ms. Franklin cancelled concert plans last year prior to her surgery due to an undisclosed illness. But sources say Franklin was feeling fatigued and short of breath due to the heavy physical demands placed on her by her concert performances.

"Her doctor told her to lose the weight or she might die," said my source who works for the singer's record label.

Aretha is sticking to a strict low fat, low cholesterol, low salt diet, but she said it will be tough to avoid eating her post-high fat, high calorie snacks, such as chitterlings, pigs' feet and ham hocks.

"They're off my diet. They just really don't fit with Whole Foods," she said. "I had it for enough years that I don't miss it. You can't continue to eat things that are not good for you."

"When you come off (a high-energy concert), a carrot or some celery just isn't going to work. I've gotta do a fresh fruit thing ... and come up with some tasty and satisfying recipes that are going to work for me after concerts."

The Diva Monica didn't take home a coveted trophy last night, but she was still a winner! Mo, 30, was named the unofficial BEST Dressed winner last night at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards! She looked elegant and stunning in a black floor length Stephane Rolland dress.

Mo tweeted: "Stephane Rolland, I loved wearing your dress tonight. Your work is innovative, classy, yet edgy. Thank u."

Actress Vivica A. Fox, 46, and her fiance, local club promoter Slimm, 25, attended Cash Money Records' pre-Grammy bash on Saturday. They say Viv is a millionaire after making a few excellent investments. Through hard work and perseverance, she gets to have all that money AND a hawt man too!

Mariah's husband Nick Cannon, 30, was spotted loaded down with bags after leaving Tiffany's in Beverly Hills, CA over the weekend. He was dressed in Louis Vuitton from head to toe. Nick reportedly picked up a bunch of rings, bracelets and a watch for his pregnant wifey. Maria is due to drop her twins in April.

Former friend to the blog, Rihanna, 22, aka "Sideshow Bob," was spotted picking her nose while dining with friends at a restaurant in Beverly Hills on Saturday. How classy.
