The California Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously approved state bill AB 1840 giving home loans to illegal immigrants.

The $300 million bill allows undocumented immigrants access to the state’s zero down, no payment “loan” program.

The controversial bill extends the eligibility for California’s first generation homebuyer loan program to undocumented immigrants who have no credit history.

The so-called “Dream For All” loan bill prohibits lenders from rejecting a loan applicant based on their immigration status.

The bill has already passed the Assembly and will now advance to a floor vote in the Senate.

“The social and economic benefits of homeownership should be available to everyone. As such, the California Dream for All Program should be available to all,” wrote bill author Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, a Democrat. “When undocumented individuals are excluded from such programs, they miss out on a crucial method of securing financial security and personal stability for themselves and their families,” he added.

Social media influencer Andrew Tate was arrested again on new charges involving sex with two 15-year-old girls.

Romanian police raided Tate’s home on Wednesday morning. Tate had been posting about the raid on his social media pages.

News footage shows the influencer talking to the media while handcuffed before being hauled off to prison.

The new charges stem from allegations by two teens who say Tate messaged them on Instagram to work for him.

Tate has admitted sleeping with 16-year-old girls – which is legal in Romania. He recruits teenage girls to work for him making webcam videos.

CAUTION: Video contains language that may not be suitable for some viewers.

Romania’s office for organized crime (DIICOT), said four search warrants were executed at Tate’s home. Police were looking for evidence of “trafficking in minors”, “sexual relations with a minor” and “money laundering”.

Tate, 37, was previously arrested on human trafficking charges in Romania in 2022. His brother Tristan and two Romanian women were also charged with sex trafficking.

The brothers were held in a Romanian prison for several months before being released on home detention in early 2023. Tate was awaiting trial on those charges when he was arrested on Wednesday.

The former professional kickboxer is accused of luring vulnerable girls to his compound in Romania and forcing them to perform sex acts on webcam for money. Tate is alleged to have taken all the money the women earned.

Tate is known for his misogynistic posts on social media where he has millions of followers.

He was reinstated on Twitter after Elon Musk purchased the app for $44 billion in October 2022.

Former Baltimore prosecutor Marilyn Mosby is begging the court for mercy again. Mosby asked the Federal Court of Appeals to throw out her white collar crime convictions, and let her keep a condo she purchased illegally.

Mosby was sentenced in May to one year home detention following convictions for mortgage fraud and perjury.

Prosecutors said Mosby used a bogus COVID hardship claim to withdraw money from retirement funds to buy two vacation homes in Florida.

Mosby is serving her home confinement concurrently with 3 years of supervised release. The judge also ordered Mosby to forfeit her luxury condo to the government.

In court documents, obtained by Fox News Digital, Mosby claims her conviction was the result of an “ill-advised” prosecution.

Mosby claims she was unfairly targeted and that the investigation into her spending was politically motivated.

“This prosecution was ill-advised and ill-conceived from the beginning, and the three convictions and forfeiture order that resulted are infirm,” Mosby’s attorneys wrote in the brief. “They should all be set aside.”

Mosby said she did not intentionally make any false statements on her loan documents and she signed the loan applications in good faith.

Prosecutors say Mosby lied about getting a $5,000 gift from her husband at the time, which helped her get a lower interest rate on a luxury condo in Longboat Key, Florida.

Her ex-husband, Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby, testified that he lied about the gift because he was embarrassed.

The Mosbys share 2 minor daughters.

Mosby also begged the court to stop the government from seizing her $900,000 condominium in Florida. She claimed she could have purchased the property without the $5,000 gift letter from her ex. She said seizing the condominium would violate her constitutional rights because the punishment is excessive.

“The Longboat Key condominium is now her only significant asset — she is otherwise deeply in debt — and has generated much-needed rental income during some periods when she is not using it,” her lawyers wrote.

Ashanti and Nelly welcomed their first child together last month. The “Foolish” singer, 43, made the announcement on Instagram Wednesday with a photo and video of her postpartum body.

“Four weeks postpartum,” Ashanti said in the video. “You have no idea what this body can do.”

In the caption, she wrote: “Funny how life’s plans aren’t… always on time. lol. I’ve been waiting to be a mom for a long time now but nothing could prepare me for EVERYTHING motherhood brings! I’m so proud of my body for giving me my baby, baby, baby, baby, baby.”

Ashanti told Entertainment Tonight their son’s name is Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, and he was born on July 18, 2024. Kenkaide is Ashanti’s dad’s name.

The birth announcement comes 2 weeks after Nelly, 49, was arrested for possession of ecstasy at a casino in Missouri.

A gay man and his partner were attacked by Shake Shack workers for showing a public display of affection inside a Washington, D.C. location.

Christian Dingus, 28, says he and his partner were attacked by Shake Shack workers after they kissed while waiting for their food order.

Dingus said he and a group of friends went to the Dupont Circle location on Saturday night, he told NBC News. They were waiting for their food when he and his boyfriend shared a kiss.

“And while we were back there — kind of briefly — we began to kiss,” Dingus said. “And at that point, a worker came out to us and said that, you know, you can’t be doing that here, can’t do that type of stuff here.”

Dingus said his partner got upset at the employee and insisted the men had done nothing wrong. Dingus’ partner was then allegedly escorted out of the restaurant, where a heated verbal argument occurred.

Dingus said he asked the worker not to talk to his boyfriend that way.

“And then one of the men, pretty forcefully, like, pushed me out of the way on my shoulder,” Dingus said. “And then, you know, next thing I know, that kind of just, I think, sparked the rest of them… They all just kind of started attacking me at that point, dragging me back through the floor and continuously punching me in my head.”

Cell phone video shows restaurant workers punching, stomping and kicking two men on the ground outside the restaurant.

One of the patrons gave a 30-second video clip to Dingus who uploaded it online.

“There was a desire to be violent towards me, and I think it’s very evident in that film,” Dingus said.

Shake Shack corporate office responded by suspending the workers pending an investigation.

Outraged social media users said the employees were only suspended (not fired) because they and the victims are part of 2 protected minority groups.

NC mom dies in Haiti while learning to become a Vodou priestess

A North Carolina woman died while on a Vodou retreat in Haiti. Dana Jackson’s son says she died after she traveled to Haiti to learn to become a Manbo priestess.

A Manbo priestess “performs ceremonies, initiations, healings, and divinations,” according to Harvard University.

Timothy Jackson told USA Today that his mom left for Haiti on July 1 to learn how to become a Manbo priestess. He expected her to return to the United States on July 26.

“Four years ago, my mom started to do a little bit of research on the African traditional spiritual belief systems and Vodou was a part of that,” he said.

Timothy said Dana’s religion had a strict no-communication rule. Timothy heard from Dana on July 12th, when she texted, “we will talk on the 21st going to church tomorrow.”

He said the no-communication rule made him nervous, but he wanted to respect his mother’s decision. He last heard from his mom on July 21, when Dana asked her son to, “pray for me.”

The next day, Timothy did not get a message from his mom, and he began to worry.

Timothy said he was comforted by the fact that she traveled to Haiti with a group of friends.

“The people that she went down there with, their name is Sosyete and I believe that that means society in the Turkish language and Nago,” Timothy said. “These weren’t strangers that she went down there with. These are people that she’s built a relationship with.”

Around 5 p.m. on July 22, his grandfather called him and broke the news that his mom had died. He said he hung up on his grandfather. When he called his grandfather back, she said that his mom was not coming back home. He hung up on her again.

In a panic, Timothy reached out to one of the leaders of the Vodou group that went to Haiti with his mom. The first thing they asked him was, “how much did he know?”

The person told Timothy that his mom had gotten extremely sick during the Vodou ceremony. She fainted, and when she regained consciousness, she didn’t know where she was.

They took her to a hospital, where she suffered seizures and died from a cardiac arrest. Timothy said their story changed and they told him his mom suffered from an asthma attack.

Timothy expected his mom’s body to return stateside on August 16, but that didn’t happen.

Timothy contacted the U.S. Embassy in Haiti for help to retrieve his mother’s body.

“I haven’t heard anything,” he said. “I don’t even think the U.S. Embassy got involved, or even received the necessary paperwork until about four days ago.”

USA TODAY reached out to the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, but they did not respond prior to publication.

Vodou is an African religion that is derived from a word which means “God” or “Spirit”.

According to PBS.org, alternative spellings of the Vodou religion can include Vodoun or Vodun, but never Voodoo, which is considered a “derogatory Western creation.”

Medical Minute: Are You Raising a Narcissist?

0

Photos in this post are for illustrative purposes only.

We have all done this: a friend shows us a photo of her child and our initial response is to praise the child’s looks (“She’s so cute!”). Americans are obsessed with beauty. That obsession breeds narcissism.

What is Narcissism?

Narcissism is a mental disorder characterized by an egotistical preoccupation with oneself. The narcissist prioritizes her own needs and personal preferences above others.

A small amount of narcissism is healthy. But a malignant narcissist is totally absorbed in herself.

Parents raise narcissists by obsessing over their child’s looks and achievements.

Marc Piasecki/WireImage

The narcissist lives vicariously through her child. She lavishes the child with gifts and praise, but she doesn’t teach the child responsibility or self-worth.

The narcissist suffered a major attachment trauma in her childhood. Her mother may have been a celebrity or airline stewardess who traveled extensively. The narcissistic child viewed her mother’s absences as abandonment.

The narcissist remains emotionally stuck at that age when the psychological trauma of her separation anxiety occurred.

As a result of her emotional trauma, she retreats inside herself and builds a barrier to guard herself from further injury. She convinces herself that people can’t be trusted because they will leave her.

The protective barrier becomes her new sense of self; a false identity that she presents to the world to mask her insecurities.

Her false identity may be attractive, self-assured and confident on the outside, but look a little deeper and you will see a bitter, hurt individual. She only cares about herself. People are objects to be used and abused. She is the center of her own universe.

Moment RF / Getty Images

Because she has a false sense of identity she is constantly checking herself in a mirror or taking hundreds of Selfies a day. She has many mirrors and photos of herself on the walls of her home.

Some narcissists hire a professional photographer to take photos or shoot videos for their social media pages. Their image is everything to them.

Studies show that we are living in an increasingly narcissistic society. The sharp rise in narcissism in today’s society is directly linked to social media.

Recent studies show that Gen-Zers and millennials are more likely to value money, image and fame over community, affiliation and self-acceptance.

Instagram

Instagram is a narcissist’s playground where self-obsessed users upload photos or videos of themselves or their children for ‘likes’ to validate their feelings of self-importance.

In a blog on Huffingtonpost.com, sports psychology consultant Nicole Forester referred to social media as an “Epidemic of narcissism”.

“We are each hard-wired with the desire to feel relevant. Everyone wants to feel like they matter and are important. Social media provides this outlet, but also promotes being self-absorbed,” she writes.

Signs & Symptoms of Narcissism

  • Difficulty maintaining longterm relationships
  • Feeling of entitlement
  • Lack empathy for others
  • Exaggerates her talents and achievements
  • Easily bored
  • Constantly looking at her reflection in a mirror
  • Obsessed with taking Selfies
  • Sensitive to criticism
  • Taking advantage of others
  • Verbally or mentally abuses others
  • Exaggerates her own importance
  • Unrealistic fantasies of love with public figures (Erotomania)
  • Seeks relationships with celebrities, athletes, or VIPs
  • Craves constant attention from others
  • Has frequent episodes of narcissistic rage
  • Jealous of other people’s success
  • Suffers from depression or anxiety
  • Avoids situations that may result in failure

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

Children are concrete in their thinking. Children typically have a difficult time distinguishing between their actual self (who they actually are) and their ideal self (who they think they are).

This causes an unrealistic view of themselves. Children who grow up to be narcissists have fractured personalities (unrealistic perception of actual self and ideal self). They are like broken mirrors. We can put the pieces back together but the mirror will never be whole.

MEGA/WENN

To develop a realistic self-view, a child must receive approval from her environment in balanced and healthy doses.

She must be taught to accept responsibility for her own behavior.

All babies are born narcissistic. But through social interaction with other children (such as in day care or kindergarten), they learn that the world does not revolve around them.

The following factors can lead to narcissism:

  • Unpredictable or unreliable caregiving from parents
  • Parents who work many hours or travel frequently
  • Excessive admiration of a child that is never balanced with realistic feedback
  • Excessive praise for good behaviors or excessive criticism for bad behavior.
  • Excessive praise for beauty or talent
  • Emotional or physical abuse in childhood
  • Valued by parents as a means to regulate their own self-esteem
  • Living vicariously through your children

Treatment

It is unusual for narcissists to seek treatment. They will seek therapy if they’ve suffered a narcissistic injury (loss of a relationship or employment) that leaves them feeling helpless.

Treatment can be very difficult because narcissists think they know more than doctors.

Treatment can include therapeutic approaches (anger management, cognitive, behavioral etc. Medication is also prescribed for depression, anxiety, etc.

Psychologists urge parents to stop praising your child’s looks and limit the child’s access to social media.

Always tell your children you love them. Set boundaries with your children. You are the authority figure in your household. You are not their friend.

Judge dismisses cartel member’s lawsuit against Sean Combs

Sean Combs is celebrating a legal victory after a cartel member’s defamation lawsuit was thrown out of court.

A judge dismissed a Sinaloa cartel member’s lawsuit against Combs for ruining his drug business.

The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, was dismissed by Chief U.S. District Judge Laura Taylor Swain on August 12.

The case was filed by cartel member Alfredo P. Gonzalez, who is currently incarcerated in Colorado.

MEGA/WENN

Gonzalez claimed Combs and his associates ruined his reputation in New York’s criminal underworld by ordering minors for his white parties.

Gonzalez claimed his injuries stemmed from Combs’ alleged illegal activities.

Gonzalez said that after he declined Combs’ request for minors, he was told his life would be made “hell”. Gonzalez further alleged that Combs’ “power” in the streets led to the loss of his drug business contacts.

However, Judge Swain dismissed Gonzalez’s lawsuit on multiple grounds. The judge found the lawsuit to be frivolous, lacking “an arguable basis either in law or in fact.”

The judge also denied Gonzalez’s ability to amend his complaint, stating that the defects in his lawsuit could not be amended.

Combs has been sued by multiple plaintiffs who allege sexual abuse and harassment. The lawsuits triggered a federal investigation that seemed to go nowhere.

Sources claim that Combs is protected because he is a longtime federal snitch.

2 Bodies Recovered From ‘Britain’s Bill Gates’ Yacht That Sank in Italy

Two bodies were recovered from the cabin of a luxury yacht that sank during a violent storm off the coast of Italy early Monday.

A source tells NBC News that divers found two bodies inside the cabin of the Bayesian on Wednesday.

Tech billionaire Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah, 18, are among six people missing after the yacht sank.

Lynch, a billionaire technology entrepreneur, was known as “Britain’s Bill Gates.”

Also missing are millionaire Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy; and Lynch’s New York lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda.

The two bodies recovered on Wednesday have not been identified.

On Monday, officials confirmed divers recovered the body of the ship’s cook, Canadian-Antiguan national Recaldo Thomas.

12 passengers and 10 crew were on board the Bayesian moored at a dock in Sicily when tragedy struck.

Witnesses say the boat was hit by lightning during a sudden violent storm. 15 people made it into a lifeboat. A nearby ship rescued the 15 survivors.

Among the survivors was Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, who co-owned the yacht.

Mike Lynch was acquitted of fraud by a San Francisco jury earlier this year. The trial stemmed from the 2011 sale of his software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion.

Lynch and his wife were hosting a lavish party on the yacht to celebrate the acquittal when tragedy struck around 5 a.m. Monday.

Lynch’s co-defendant Stephen Chamberlain was struck and killed by a car while jogging near London on Saturday. Officials say the 2 tragic incidents are not related.
