Angel Laws, owner of popular urban gossip site Concrete Loop took a spin down the red carpet at RADAR magazine’s ‘New Radicals Gala’ event in NY on Tuesday night. I love Angel’s confidence. I just have issue with journalist or bloggers injecting themselves into the news they cover. I wouldn’t do it. I feel that my place is behind the scenes bringing the news to my readers. By walking the red carpet, Angel puts herself in the same company as Perez Hilton and Jamie Foster Brown who regularly make themselves a part of the news they cover.

Usher’s Brother Signs Publishing Deal

According to a press release, Usher’s little brother James Lackey aka “J Lack”signed a publishing deal with EMI. The deal was brokered by his mom Jonetta Patton who has taken on her youngest son as a client since her oldest son kicked her to the curb.

This news is only interesting because of who his brother is. The fact is the youngster is nothing special in the studio. He produced the super annoying single “Get It Shorty” for Lloyd and he reportedly contributed a couple of tracks to Usher’s new album.

Video: Mary J Blige Listening Session

Mary J. Blige filmed during her album listening session for “Growing Pains” in New York. Mary samples the tracks off her album. I’ve never seen such a hype listening session. You would think Mary was performing live in concert. I get on Mary sometimes but no doubt, Mary is the coolest thing breathing in NY City!

Thanks to Danica over at SOHH.com for the video which she shot herself.

The night belonged to Ne-Yo last night in Atlanta as he co-hosted Compound Entertainment’s 1st Annual Masquerade Charity Ball for charity, with Frank Ski. 200 guests were wined and dined in high style at Atlanta’s historic Biltmore hotel. Ne-Yo performed an electrifying show that showed why R. Kelly was so shook and kicked him off the tour. Ne-Yo had no hard feelings and even dedicated his next single “Go On Girl” to Kells!

Jamahl King and his staff at STEPS Events pulled out all stops to make this a special evening for all. The ballroom was decorated like something out a great Gatsby movie with draped silk hanging on the walls and gold plated dinnerware.

Big shout out to the staff of Compound Entertainment for organizing another great event! Shouts to Big Barry Florence and Katena Keno for doing their thing on the publicity end. Atlanta Falcons star Warrick Dunn told me he was a fan of Sandrarose.com!

Even though Ne-Yo tore the house down, the highlight of the night for me was when that arrogant Atlanta photographer Jimi “Albino” Flixx was bodily ejected from the premises. Dude is so obnoxious! He thinks he can invite himself to private events, eat up the food, partake of the wine and still act like a jerk! He found out when he brushed the dirt off his shoulders in the parking lot!

Special thanks to Ne-Yo for the personal invite!
