Janelle Monáe came out as nonbinary during the season premiere of Jada Pinkett Smith's "Red Table Talk" web series on Facebook Watch.

Janelle, 36, previously came out as pansexual - a catchall phase for people who are sexually fluid and attracted to everyone.

Then, in 2020 Janelle flipped the script again and identified as nonbinary - another catchall term that is loosely defined as a person who does not identify as male, female, heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual.

On Wednesday, Janelle told Jada, her daughter Willow Smith and mom Adrienne Banfield Norris that she decided to come to terms with being nonbinary.

"I'm nonbinary, so I just don't see myself as a woman," she explained.

"I feel all of my energy. I feel like God is so much bigger than the 'he' or the 'she.' And if I am from God, I am everything. I am everything. But I will always, always stand with women. I will always stand with Black women. But I just see everything that I am. Beyond the binary. I feel like that opens you up to fall in love ... with any beautiful spirit."

Janelle, 36, coped with homosexual rumors by choosing not to come out as either lesbian or bisexual because of the impact that revelation might have on her deeply religious family.

"Somebody said, 'If you don't work out the things that you need to work out first before you share with the world, then you'll be working it out with the world.' That's what I didn't want to do," she said.

"So I thought I needed to have all my answers correct, I don't want to say the wrong thing. And also I hadn't had the necessary conversations with my family. I wasn't ready to have my family question my personal life or get calls from people who still look at me as Little Pumpkin — that's what they call me back home.

"My whole family is church, church, church and I'm just like, 'Well what does it meant to go against your whole family on this thing?' But I was ready. I needed to have those conversations. I didn't want to work that out with the world."

Janelle, who briefly dated actress Lupita Nyong'o, said it "took me some time" to have the nonbinary conversation with her mother and father.

"I needed to talk to my dad who was just great. My sister knew already because I've been in monogamous relationships, I've been in polyamorous relationships. But I knew that I couldn't be Little Pumpkin. I couldn't be little Janelle."

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend pledged $200,000 to bail out protesters who destroyed property and looted luxury shops from Atlanta to Los Angeles over the weekend.

The former model and TV personality originally offered $100,000 to the cause on Friday, but she doubled the amount as violence hit the streets of many major cities across America in response to the death of George Floyd, a Black man, at the hands of over-zealous police officers in Minneapolis on May 25.

Teigen was among a dozen celebrities offering the cash hand-out "in celebration of whatever the f**k maga night is," referencing an earlier tweet by U.S. President Donald Trump. She doubled her initial offering after a Twitter user called the protesters on the streets "criminals."

"Ooo they might need more money then. Make it $200,000," she said.

Trump supporters targeted the model for making a stand with the protesters, who were being arrested during demonstrations across the U.S., prompting outspoken Chrissy to fire back: "Anyhow f**k trump and keeping going. Be safe, stay hydrated, wear your mask and again, f**k Donald Trump."

She added: "And KEEP THIS SAME ENERGY WHEN YOU VOTE. The worst thing that could happen is this all happening for nothing."

Teigen isn't the only celebrity pledging to help bail out protesters - Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, and Janelle Monae have also gone public with donations to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, a nonprofit that helps pay bail for people who can't afford it.

Lupita Nyong'o is praising the presence of intimacy coaches on sets during love scenes. The Black Panther star tells Vanity Fair magazine she's glad sexism and abuse are now hot topics in Hollywood, but she believes Hollywood can be "oversensitive" to sexism in the wake of the #MeToo and Time's Up movements.

That's why she's praising the inclusion of intimacy coaches on movie sets to help actors feel comfortable during sex scenes.

"I'm quite happy that there is that kind of extreme change, and hopefully we find equilibrium as we move forward," the 36-year-old explained.

Nyong'o says intimacy coaches are now more commonplace on movie sets.

"In the past, when it came to physical combat, there were always consultants on set, but when it came to intimacy there was never, ever somebody present to help actors navigate that," she adds. "Now you have that, which I think is a great inclusion, and ensures that those kinds of abuses don't happen."

As for her own real life love scenes, the bisexual star closely guards her love life, despite fans speculating over her rumored relationships with actress Tessa Thompson and singer/actress Janelle Monáe (pictured right).

"I feel like there's parts of myself that I care to share and then there are parts that I don't," Lupita explains of her desire to keep her personal life private.
