A Russian judge sentenced WNBA star Brittney Griner to 9 years in prison on Thursday for smuggling several vape cartridges containing cannabis oil into Russia on February 17.

Judge Anna Sotnikova reduced Griner's 9.5 year sentence by 6 months for time already served.

The judge also ordered Griner to pay 1 million rubles ($16,700 USD) for intentionally breaking Russian law.

Griner stared blankly at the judge when her sentence was translated into English by an interpreter.

The Phoenix Mercury center told the judge she understood she had the right to appeal her conviction.

Rappers 50 Cent, Boosie Badazz, Meek Mill and others reacted to Griner's harsh sentence on social media.

Pop singer Justin Bieber also responded to her conviction and sentencing by offering to help free her.

The Grammy Award winner took to Instagram and asked his followers for suggestions to help him free Griner.

He shared an image of Griner on her way to court. "This hurts. If anyone knows of anyway I can help please let me know," he wrote.

Griner, who has been detained since her arrest at a Moscow airport, pled guilty on July 7 to accelerate her drug trial.

The Biden administration had offered to swap convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout for Griner and former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan who was arrested in 2018 and charged with spying for the US.

Sources say Griner knew that any prisoner swap could not occur until her trial was completed. Griner's drug trial, which began in June, was expected to last 6 months under Russian law.

Viktor Bout was convicted in New York of conspiracy to kill Americans in 2012 and sentenced to serve 12 years.

But Russian officials did not express interest in a prisoner exchange for Bout.

Hailey Bieber opened up about her "life altering" medical scare after suffering a mini stroke caused by a hole in her heart.

Hailey revealed she had a medical procedure to close a hole in her heart after she was hospitalized with a stoke last month.

The 25-year-old supermodel posted a YouTube video titled "telling my story" on Wednesday. She said she was eating breakfast with husband, pop singer Justin Bieber, when she experienced stroke symptoms on March 10.

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images

"We were in the middle of talking, and all of a sudden I felt this really weird sensation that kind of like traveled down my arm from my shoulder all the way down to my finger tips."

Hailey said her concerned husband asked if she was OK.

"When I went to respond, I couldn't speak. The right side of my face started drooping," she said. "So obviously, immediately I thought I was having a stroke, like a full-blown stroke."

She said Justin also suspected she was having a stroke. Luckily, a healthcare worker was nearby and assessed Hailey before she was transported to a hospital in Palm Springs.

Later, Hailey's doctor told her she had a "mini stroke" when a blood clot formed in her heart and traveled to her brain.

She explained that every baby is born with a hole between the upper chambers of the heart called a foramen ovale. Her foramen ovale never closed when she was born and took her first breath.

Hailey said her doctor told her the blood clot, "escaped through the hole in my heart and traveled to my brain and that is why I suffered a [mini stroke]."

Definitely, the scariest moment of my life," she said.

BACKGRID

Hailey said she underwent a patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure procedure to close the hole in her heart. "It went very smoothly... I'm recovering really well, really fast."

Doctors told Hailey a variety of factors - including birth control pills - may have caused clots to develop in her heart.

Other factors include a recent long flight to Paris, a positive Covid-19 diagnosis, and severe migraines.

Rapper Kodak Black was shot in the leg outside Justin Bieber's after-party in Los Angeles on Friday night. Witnesses say the shootout occurred after Kodak was denied entry into Bieber's party at The Nice Guy restaurant in L.A. on Friday.

As the rapper and his entourage were heading to their cars, one of his crew got into a fight with a man in the parking lot — and Kodak jumped in to assist his pal.

According to TMZ, gunshots rang out, sending people scattering in all directions. Kodak was hit in the leg and three others were also shot. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Kodak was transported to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition, according to TMZ.

Video obtained by TMZ shows the chaos that erupted outside the celebrity hotspot.

Police said they have a description of the suspect but no arrests have been made.

Bieber had performed at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood before hosting his afar-party at The Nice Guy.

Kodak was among the people pardoned by President Donald Trump last year. The troubled rapper is the latest victim of California's out-of-control crime wave.

A female bank robbery suspect in Georgia reportedly fled back to liberal California where lawmakers are soft on crime and criminals literally get away with murder.

Fans who had hoped to celebrate the official announcement of Justin and Hailey Bieber's first child will have to wait.

Justin Bieber's model wife is not pregnant, despite Justin cradling her apparent baby bump on the red carpet at the 2021 Met Gala on Monday.

The Biebers sparked rumors that Hailey was pregnant after Justin placed his hand over her midsection during the Met Gala.

Dozens of paparazzi captured the moment-- but Justin only held his hand on Hailey's tummy for a split second.

Still, that split second appeared to all the world that a Bieber baby was on the way.

Millions of Bieber fans rejoiced on social media into the night and early Tuesday morning.

However, sources close to the couple tell TMZ that Hailey's uterus is vacant, and it was just an innocent pose.

The couple's appearance at the star-studded ball was a first for them, and it served a dual purpose -- they were also there celebrating their wedding anniversary.

TMZ broke the story, Justin and Hailey exchanged their vows at a civil ceremony at a courthouse in 2018, and they had a blowout wedding for friends and family in South Carolina in 2019.

The Met Gala was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Tyler Perry is known for being generous with his vast wealth. The director/playwright is reportedly paying $16,000-a-month rent on a beachfront property for disgraced pastor Carl Lentz.

Justin Bieber's former pastor relocated with his family from New York to a beachfront home on the west coast after he confessed to cheating on his wife.

Lentz reached out to his friends to help with the rent, and Perry answered the call, paying almost $100,000 to cover 6 months rent for his friend.

According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, the Madea star shelled out $96,000 to cover a six-month lease on a beachfront property, after Carl, his wife and their three children relocated from New York.

An insider told the publication that Lentz has also been leaning on Perry for emotional support, after Lentz was fired from the popular Hillsong Church East Coast after admitting to cheating on his wife.

When asked why Perry didn't suggest more reasonably priced accommodations for his friend, a source said, "Tyler has been friends with Carl and his wife Laura for years and is sticking by them and their kids during this difficult time."

News of Perry's generous gift comes as People magazine reported that Lentz is receiving outpatient help with his mental health struggles at a facility which specializes in "depression, anxiety, and pastoral burnout".

"He wants to be better for his family and is dedicated to doing the work," a source told People. "His family is supporting him and hopes their privacy will be respected on this journey. He has no ill will towards the church and recognizes that they needed to take some course of action to address his missteps."

Social media can be brutal when men don't measure up to their picky standards. One man who does't quite measure up is pop idol Justin Bieber, who posted a bathroom pic wearing nothing but his skivvies.

Social media was not nice. The comments are brutal and unforgiving.

One user asked "Where the rest of it?"

Another user asked "And what EXACTLY am I supposed to be looking at."

A third IG user was distracted by Justin's designer underwear. "Who is Dave? And why does he have his own underwear brand?"

The former kiddie singer is a fully grown 26-year-old man with a body full of intricately detailed tattoos. Some fans believe Justin covers his scrawny body in tattoos to make up for his inadequacies and to make himself look bigger than what he is.

Question: Do you find full body tattoos sexy?

Irv Gotti says rappers are an endangered species in hip-hop because Black people won't stop killing each other.

The 49-year-old music industry exec shared his thoughts about rappers being killed more than any other artist.

Up-and-coming Brooklyn drill rapper Pop Smoke was killed by four gunmen who broke into his Hollywood Hills home last month.

"It's sad, it really is sad," Gotti said in a street interview with toofab.com.

"It's a tragedy. 20 years old and they took his life," the Hollis, Queens native said.

"I love hip-hop, so I hate shit like that... It happens in hip-hop a lot. And it's just -- I wish our people was different. You know what I'm saying? I wish our people would think for one second. 20 years old, bruh. It only happens in hip-hop. And I don't wish that on nobody, but, you know what I'm saying. It's not like you're ever gonna see Justin Bieber get smoked, or whatever. And it's only hip-hop.

Gotti, real name Irving Lorenzo Jr., is a music producer and founder of Murder Inc Records. He was born to mixed race Black and Filipino parents.
