Snoop Dogg cultivated an image as a tough gangster on his records, but he fainted when he saw his pal Tupac Shakur on his deathbed.

Snoop said Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, helped him gather the strength to say goodbye to his friend and labelmate.

Tupac was shot multiple times by a rival gang banger in Las Vegas. He died from his injuries on September 13, 1996.

During a recent interview, Snoop said he received a series of text messages from former Death Row Records founder Suge Knight telling him he and Tupac had been shot.

Suge was grazed in the head during the shooting.

Snoop said he and rapper Warren G headed to Las Vegas and stopped by Suge's home. Snoop said Suge downplayed Tupac's injuries while exaggerating his own graze wound.

"When we drive to Vegas to see Pac, we got to Suge house first, so we haven't even seen Pac," Snoop said. "We just talking to Suge, and he got the head wrapped up and he telling us what happened and, you know, 'Pac gonna be alright, he going to pull through, he got shot nine times before, he going to be alright, [they] hit me in the head.'"

When Snoop and Warren G got to the hospital, Snoop was shocked to see Tupac on his deathbed in the ICU.

"He got tubes in him and it's like, when I walked in, I could just feel like he wasn't even there, and I fainted," he said. "Then, his [mother Afeni Shakur] got me up and walked me in the bathroom and had a conversation with me about being strong. She was like, 'My baby ain't never seen you weak. I don't want you to be weak in front of him. You go in the bathroom and fix yourself up and you go back in there and you talk to him and you tell him how you feel.'"

Snoop added, "She knew how much we loved each other. So, she gave us a moment for me to say some things to him, as far as how much I love him, but I knew that that was gonna be my last time speaking with him."

Suge Knight

New surveillance video from a fast food restaurant seems to support incarcerated hip hop executive Suge Knight's claim that he was ambushed and attacked by two former friends. Knight said he was fleeing for his life when he accidentally ran over both men with his red SUV. At least one of the men appeared to have a gun in his hand. Knight was later arrested after he turned himself in to the LAPD.

Death Row Records owner and chief instigator Shug Knight was shot multiple times at an unofficial pre-Video Music Awards party hosted by Chris Brown in Los Angeles on Saturday. (The VMA folks were quick to disassociate themselves from Brown's event after the shooting.) Knight -- who at 49 is way too old to be partying in nightclubs -- was reportedly shot at least twice and as many as six times.

Some believe Brown was the intended target of the gunman. According to social media reports, before the shots rang out, Brown stood with his arms outstretched as if he was invincible.
