NEW YORK CITY WEEPS
The verdict in the Sean Bell murder case is in. I’m not surprised that the cops were acquitted of firing 50 shots into a car killing the unarmed Bell on his wedding day.
There’s an unspoken understanding among the rank and file that all male minorities are threatening whether armed or unarmed. So the shootings are always deemed justified regardless of the circumstances. I expect parts of the city will be smoldering by tonight.

i’m pissed… the mayor said this was excessive, the chief of police said it was excessive, but a effin judge thought they were unable to prove “beyond a shadow of a doubt” that the officers werent justified?! how the f***?!?! how do u justify shooting 31 rounds? that means u have to reload twice?! NYPD guns are made to have a harder trigger so its harder to shoot…. Do u know how hard it is to pull a trigger 31 times? and they never saw one shot being fired back at them? they said another person shot back and fled… where is that guy? if u know like i know, they will arrest every single black man until they find the alleged gun man

I am pissed too as I 1st read this on YAHOO!!!! There is no way you can explain 50 got damn bullets!!! against a man with no gun… How the hell did they talk the city in a judge hearing the case and not have aa damn jury decided this case… That is the f.u.c.k.e.r.y. that goes on in this damn justice system. If Sean was my family member i would file all kinds of appeals and ask for a damn jury to hear the case! I am sooooooooo sick of this kind of stuff happening and this right here will keep happening because they got off!!!! And I am appaulled and outraged that they have gotten away with murder!!! We been covering Sean Bell’s case from the start and when I read today that the police officers were acquitted I was in serious disbelief. An unarmed man was shot 50 times and the people who did it are not responsible at all!? That’s crazy.
Nothing’s gonna happen. I at first thought there would be a repeat of rodney king. that’s not gonna happen. black folks just tired. we dont know what else to do in situations like this. in this case, two of the officers (i believe) are black. when your civil rights are violated, what are you going to do? what am i going to do? i’m not rich..i dont have inflential friends in politics or legal defense….now what????

Everyone here in NYC is in shock. Its crazy that something like this can happen and these cops get off on ALL charges. People cant say, this wont happen again because this is the 2nd time cops got off in killing an unarmed man.

This is a travesty…Unjustifiable homicide at it’s finest. My heart goes out to Sean’s parents and mostly Nicole and the girls. She has to raise her babies alone, answering questions about what happened to daddy. That just pains my heart.

I was listening to Steve Harvey and he made an extremely valid point, when are white men ever a threat to policemen or shot up by accident or in self defense?
Something similar happened in S. Florida, however the person was armed but never fired or showed his weapon before they shot him up and dragged him to be arrested. this is so heart breaking but is anyone really surprised? Cops can steal, rape and kill blacks yet there is never any action taken against them…
I understand being concerned for your safety and the safety of the public, but when is it ever gonna be considered “too much?” And whats worst is that good cops are gonna be considered crooked and potential murderers

reading this BS this morning, they said that Bell and his friends were thugs familiar with guns and such like that makes it ok to shoot to kill, no overkill them. Hoes cannot be raped and thugs cannot be murdered…just ridiculous logic!!! This is so upsetting, so wrong! One cop 31 shots, how can that judge think that is explainable? I don’t want NY to burn but I want justice for Bell’s family and the men who were with him. I want the federal government to get in there as they have been monitoring this case and overturn this crap!!! Make it right!

I too am sick of such injustices as Sean Bell being gunned down in cold blood but I’m also sick and tired of black on black crime thru out our neighborhoods across the country. Chicago has been in the news lately, found 5 black folks shot and killed in a run-down house, 15 killed over the weekend. Same thing with DC, Dodge City, once labeled the murder capital of the world, blacks killing each other like crazy. (My 25 yr old nephew was gunned down 2 yrs ago on the streets of DC. I’m sure everyone knows someone who has been gunned down in America.) Black America, we need to get our act together by coming together, finally and forever. Perhaps the election of Obama will lift us to where Dr. King left us some 40 years ago, hanging on for dear life. As always, I leave you in peace.

Understanding the fact of having to shoot because “I though my life was in danger”. Why not shoot to disable if you thought you were in danger? Get out of the way, until back up arrives; but to take a life rather he had criminal behavior at one point or another is really irrelevant. How can you justify, taking a man’s life that was UNARMED?! Why didn’t the cops shoot the tires on the car to disable it, considering the car was at this point being looked upon as a weapon? The U.S. is not for US it’s for citizens who are socially, and economically at the top of the ranks! This young man’s life was taking because he didn’t fit into either one of those categories, so to the JUDGE he didn’t matter. What we must realize is no matter how much injustice we as a people who don’t fit the U.S. Social and Economical standards endure; the very folks who are judge and jury now, will be the same people in line with us common folk waiting on their verdict in the book of life. My heart goes out to his family and his friends and their family during this difficult time.
This is heartbreaking news, My prayers and thoughts go out to the family. This much to devastating, the fact that people go to jail for dumb ish that doesnt even make sense and yet the officer of the laws get away scott free with what is without a doubt murder.
This verdict makes my stomach turn. All this does is serve as a reminder that the very people that are supposed to protect you can be the biggest predators of them all. No one can justify firing that many shots at a person…armed or unarmed. I’ve never been surprised that black cops were involved because we are our own worst enemy and many black cops tend to treat other blacks like garbage anyway.
I’m in NY and it’s a very grim feeling overall out here….

As a native New Yorker, I will say that I am not surprised at all. Yeah, it really hurts me to the core they these pigs got off, but I also understand that we are indeed living in the land of our OPPRESSOR. Its sad that many of you are still naive into thinking that any form of “justice” was going to be served today. I guess some of you thought that times has changed because of Obama.
The fact is that times hasn’t changed, **** is getting worse. Racism is alive and well in this country. As far as the “Justice System” is concerned, many of you will be SURPRISED by what goes on under the veil. Just ask any of your friends and family members that actually been incarcerated. And no, I ain’t talking about some punk ass 8 month sentences either, lets talk 10 years and up. Are any of you even aware that once you are released and are still on parole that you are required to pay monthly restitution fee to the state? Oh, and if you decide not to pay, guess where your black ass is going back to? Extortion at it’s finest!
I’m sorry to say this, but there were many before Sean Bell and sadly, there will be many after that will suffer the same travesty. That is why we as a people need to put all the negative **** aside and stand together, because nobody else don’t give a **** about us.

Only in America can the police violate their code of conduct, receive pay while on leave, be found not-guilty when they admit guilt, and walk away with a slap on the wrist.
Only in America can an unarmed Black man be gunned down in a hail of 50 bullets fired by 5 officers and the 5 officers feel vidicated although their stories matched the stories of the witnesses who took the stand yet the judge returns a “not guilty” verdict.
Only in America are we, the people of the darkest color in America, asked to “keep the peace” after in-justice.
he fathered two childre with the fiancee’ he left behind and he had every intent on making the mother of his children, his wife. This speaks volume in a society in which it’s not common for a man to make the mother of his children his wife and not just a woman standing in line with other women as ”baby mommas.” He was 23, and scheduled to be married the morning of his murder. The media says “gunned down”, but it was murder. Is it fair to say he shouldn’t have been where he was or should it be fairly stated, the police used excessive force against a Black man? How can this be racism when 3 of the 5 officers were minorities?
Well, as I was writing, three of the detectives found not guilty were doing “damage” control by holding news conference on CNN. They thanked their attorneys and the judge for making a fair and just decision. They thanked God and losely apologized to the Bell family for their loss. GUESS WHAT! SEAN AIN’T NEVER COMING BACK! This is why NWA wrote the song, “F*** the Police” because of things like this.

I almost fell out of the shower this morning when I heard that they were acquitted. I pray for he families having to deal with this ordeal. Bet BELIEVE this is not over!!! Someone will pay for what thes aholes have done. The black cop involved shot the most rounds or almost as many. Black cops are just as bad as white cops. The black cop involved stopped the car to begin with. This is not the end of this case!

The sad thing was Sean Bell will go down in history (as far as white people are concerned) as a drug dealing thug that was killed by police because he was in a “seedy” part of town doing wrong and not as a VICTIM. I read some of the comments on other sites and was completely appalled. Some even went so far as to say that was a good way to clean the streets of NY. My opinion the clean up needs to start in DC at the White House and then to the capital of each and every city.
It’s just sad. But really is anyone surprised? Society shows us everyday one way or another how they really feel about us. Yes we cool to sell their tennis shoes and liquor and maybe even a select few can be the face of their products but at the end of the day we as a people hold no weight in this country. YOU STILL A N#$$er. What can we do? How can we do it?
I pray that the family of Sean Bell will find comfort, understanding and peace somehow …
I am not shocked of the outcome. Just like the Diallo case. It’s the American fuking way, when cops can kill you and not go to jail, and if you shoot a cop, then you get the death penalty. I am sure the decision of the verdict was made way before the Pope came to town.

The judge ruled. It was obvious. NO crime was committed, the Detectives acted within the Law…..enough with the Bell family already. These media assholes are making Sean Bell a Saint. He was a PERP. The cops know it, the public knows it, his perp friends and family know it, the criminal justice system knows it….enough already.

This is what brings the worst out of people. They like to see us mad, they like to see us hurt, depressed, and on edge. This is the kind of outcome they all live for, because they are hoping that on this very day more lives of black people can be taken with or without reason. Forgive me lord, but this makes me want to go spray law enforcement. I gotta pray on this one. I feel helpless and vulnerable. I pray for peace for this family and all others effected by this.
To those law enforcements officer: You didn’t get away with anything cause the lord saw it. Karma is a ****, one of your family members might be murdered in the worst way, or even you. Justice sometimes comes outside of the courtroom, and not at the hand of the victims…..puzzled, think about it for a second. The greatest avenger and the one that demands justice is the lord.
I pray these officers don’t have another day of peace in their entire lives until they die. May the dead haunt them until they are no more. Darn shame they will be celebrating with their families tonight, while that young man is dead in his grave, killed when his life was just getting started.
Like most of the other New Yorkers on this blog, I am not surprised, either. I called it in a discussion with some friends. I KNEW they were going to get off. From day 1, Bell and his associates were portrayed as criminals and thugs.
The white folks (in the comment sections of the articles) are saying what they always say - either ridiculing Al Sharpton, calling black folks crybabies, or making ignorant comments like, “How is the reduction in sales of cheetos and 40 oz beers going to shut the city down?” (in response to Al Sharpton’s call to demonstrate our displeasure with this ‘abortion of justice,’ as he called it).
50 is NOT a pinhead (I’m talking to you, Bill O’Reilly!). America IS NOT and WILL NOT be ready for a Black president. We can still see it in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and many other places. There continue to be white folks who simply DO NOT want a black man (ESPECIALLY SOME UPPITY, COLLEGE-EDUCATED NEGRO) in office telling them what to do (Obama’s biggest trouble spots are white, blue-collar, non-college-educated voters –> and Catholics, too).
