I see nothing wrong with this baby’s wash and curl set. Mamas should teach their babies a sense of pride in their own hair while their young. At least she doesn’t have a head full of basket weave extensions.

Thanks to loyal reader Lasonya Cousin for this pic!

  • NaturalNubian

    haha! she’s a cutie though.

  • brwnsugga4you

    she’s a cutie…aint nothing wrong with that. she’s a d*mn baby…

  • jamil2008

    She is just too cute!

  • SRR71

Now Sandra, you know that’s an adult hair style..but she is a very cute baby..

  • ldorisca

I don’t think its a wash and curl. Some babies are born with natural waves/curls. All you need is some grease and brush.

  • http://www.smokiesays.blogspot.com/ Smokie

All I know is that baby is adorable and I want to pick her up and kiss her!

  • iyonah

The baby is absolutely adorable — however, that syle is not age appropriate at all.

  • Krysi – yes the same one

She’s very cute…from the looks of it she just happens to have a good grade of hair, her mama was probably just playing around in it.

  • katgirl33

    What a gorgeous baby!

She didn’t need her her done by a beatuician..unless the mother doesn’t know how to comb a girl’s hair….I can relate to that…my only child is a boy, and me being in the middle, my sister was always the stylist…LOL

  • MZN

I don’t understand what a “good” grade of hair is… Hair is hair. And that style is way TOO grown on her. It’s kind of ghetto to have such a “grown and sexy” look on a baby. But to each it’s own. There are plenty of ways to style a child’s hair. Kids should look their age.

But she is an extremely adorable baby. I wish I could pick her up and kiss her on her little cheeks… ahhh…

  • ldorisca

A good grade of hair is hair that can be swept down and put in place like the picture without puffing and curling up with the slightest bit of humidity.

  • allhoney915

Good hair is hair that grows on your head..ask someone that’s bald what type of hair they prefer….

  • prynsexxx

That baby is toooo freakin cute!!!!!!!

Now I know yall don’t believe for one second that somebody actually took this baby to “Snips” and got her hair “did”. LOL Somebody was just playing in that baby’s hair and brushed it like that possibly after they bathed her, washed her hair and lotioned and baby oiled her down.

    Come on ppl, be real.

    She is too cute!

  • preciousfromomaha

    She is so cute.

  • Mia

Cute baby, but I’m not feeling the hair.

  • http://musicisourhigh.blogspot.com musicisourhigh

    love those big eyes.

  • sanaas

    What a cutie!!

  • licia

    she’s too cute . i agree with prynsexxx .

  • MZN

I didn’t know that if hair puffed up (because of humidity) that it meant it isn’t a good grade of hair… I thought that whatever hair texture the Creator gave you was good. That baby would be cute whether she had puffy hair or curly hair.

  • free

pre-con-gel and a roller set! she is such a cutie pie! that’s how we do it! if you put a barrette in it, it will make it look a little more childlike. i keep thinking little richard or eddie murphy on dreamgirls.

  • free

hair is hair but we all know all hair ain’t good. i would gladly trade what is on the back of my neck w/no hesitation.

For some reason when I keep glancing at this picture, I feel like I’m going to see an earring in her upper ear cartlidge… Just too grown…

  • gemini83

OMG!!! THAT BABY IS SOO GORGEOUS!!

  • sexyma078

The baby is gorgeous i agree i think someone was jsut playing around after bath time…as for “Hair grains” there are many types and normally what ever type you have your not satisfied with it…people who i though had good hair hate it cause it does hold certain styles, ie braids and people like me who perm thier sh** with in a inch of thier life are sick of the kitchen But like MZN said be grateful for what God gave you ….AMEN TO THAT!!

  • JustSaying

style is not age appropriate at all.

  • miamore73

It’s hella ghetto to put that hairdo on a baby. Even a child of 8 is to young to wear that hair style. Whoever did this babies hair needs a new hobby.

  • Krysi – yes the same one

    __________________________________________________

I was simply being honest, now if you want me to lie I will. That girls hair does not lay down smoothly to her head, It looks very hard to comb and hard to style, All children have easy hair to work with, but she’s not one of them.

I did it for you MZN, cause it for d*mn sure wasn’t for GOD. He does not expect you to care what hair he gives you, he makes you just the way he wants you to be, this is true, my hair is nappy az hell, which is why i thank GOD for the woman who invented perms. This child is no more than a victim of a family that adores her beauty and enjoys playing in her hair. The picture was probably just snapped because she’s a cutie not for a hair book entry. Its really not that serious, sometimes you just have to face the facts. The facts are there are different textures of hair. Fiction is that all hair is easy to deal with and style without proper treatment and training.

  • shunda

They were trying to be funny after her hair was washed don’t you guys see the pack of barettes she is holding in the pic.

  • Hotstuff

That baby is so cute to be talking bad about…it’s a baby and it look better than making a combover on a lil’ baby’s head…enjoy it now b/c babies born with a head full usually don’t have much hair growing up and babies with no hair when born usually have a head full when they get older…

    But that baby is adorable!!!

  • NYCUTIE

I can’t get past how cute the baby is!

  • hellava10

She is too cute. I’m going to get some juices and berries and hook mine up like that when I get home.

    ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE.

I’m trying to figure out if most of you that thinking that is a “DO” have any kids? If you do, you probably got some little nappy-headed babies! lol

DON’T RESPOND TO THAT! I was just kidding! (Cause I SHO can’t talk! My kids all got different textured hair!)

That baby just has naturally curly and silky hair! Looks like her momma put a little baby oil in it and brushed it to the side with one of those soft baby brushes!

  • brinabelle

LMFAO!..that baby is too cute..i hope the hair-do is a photoshop

  • AlwaysSweet

I used to play in my little boy’s head when he was a baby all the time, put wigs on and everything. But I was just playing. I wouldn’t take him out somewhere with a toupee on. I had better sense than that. Obviously this child’s mother was doing the same: playing with her little girl’s hair.

  • tdl74767

Someone probably did that as a joke, no baby is going to sit for a wash and set. LOL!

  • mjoylaw

that baby is cute as can be

the style is a lil bit ghetto and not age appropriate, of course, but damn baby got HAIR in order to rock dat style!

ARE WE STILL TALKING ABOUT “GOOD” HAIR IN 2008???????????????? Damn they did a good damn jobbba fcukin us up as the self hating ppl that we are during slavery! Damn

  • kenyanhottie

She’s cute but the hair is scary people. she looks like a mini me of some sort. But she is cute as a button.

  • mjoylaw

All our hair is GOOD black ppl…………………it’s hair ain it? I agree with the poster toum bout BALD PPL..now dat dere’s some bad hair–THEY DON’T HAVE ANY!

God help us to love ourselves, “nappy” hair and all? Please?

  • Kymystry

    awwww .. she’s a cutie pa-tootie … In the words of Mary J .. Work Your Hair Girl !!!

  • Maxdan

OMG, first of all it’s just hair. I don’t know how brushing it smooth across the front and leaving it curly up top equals GROWN. She is OBVIOUSLY a little a$$ baby with a nice/managable texture that is less coarse than others. The secret is to see how her head is looking at about age 1, 2, and 25. She is TOO CUTE!!!
It’s doing too much if they put gel in her hair.

My niece is freakin Puerto Rican/Mexican/Caucasian/BLACK and she came out the womb with a head full of hair and a Halle Berry looking cut. So now is she looking 12 years old? NOOOOOO

At least she isn’t a little BOY with pony tails cause black folks try to hold onto the little bit of hair we could see grow on a head (LONG) and do cornrows and whatever else. Now that is ghetto as hell.

  • http://notenoughrealmen.blogspot.com 2thick4u

    She is very beautiful!!!!

Her hair looks cute but it can easily be done…with some Liv grease and a Rat-Tail comb:)!!!

  • pointhimout

    she is beautiful.

  • BayArea

    That picture is adorable.

I use to do that to my daughters her all the time. She didn’t have as much hair as the baby above, but it was really silky and straight.

Not sure if I took any pictures. I’m going to check 😉

    _________________________________________________________

OH LAWD are we still talking about slavery in 2008. I think by now Black people have their own opinions and it didn’t take slavery to give them that freedom. Its not about self hate of love, like I said FICTION is that all hair is easy to deal with and style without proper treatment and training. Ain no sence in looking a damn fool because GOD gave you hair. Why do you think he gave us the ability to braid and such. Come on be for real. Slavery is a played out subject and the mention of it is redundant.

  • Mz_Magnificent1

What a cutie pie…I don’t know about that hairstyle though lol.

  • whatnow

the baby is cute, no question but that hairdo makes her look like a ghetto baby. gel on a baby?? straight out of compton.

  • Maxdan

    LOL @ Krysi

    That’s real talk.
Slavery is over physically but it needs to be broken in the mind, to each his own.
I’m good over here enjoying freedom (I guess).

  • heart2heart

What’s going on with the hairstyle? Oh well, that baby is still so adorable. And look at those eyes!

    To Krysi:

I understand that someone was playing around with her hair and snapped a picture of her. I know it’s not that serious but Sandra asked for our opinion and I gave one.
By the way, her hair looks easy to comb to me.
I know that as BP especially, we have different textures of hair. But there is no such thing as good or bad hair. Just like there is no such thing as nappy hair. Nappy equals bad and I don’t play that. We as a people are very unique individuals. From our physical beings to our mental. But if you feel like you can’t appreciate the so-called “nappy” head that God gave you… well that’s on you. Keep rockin the cancerous chemicals…

I haven’t had the chance to read the comments here. But so far I have received 3 emails from people claiming to be the parents of this adorable baby. One man claiming to be the father said my readers were making negative comments about the baby. I would hope my readers aren’t making negative comments about this beautiful baby.

  • Krysi – yes the same one

Well i tell you what MZN,

I will do just that and keep rocking the chemicals on my nappy hair until i get tired. Cancerous? No more cancerous than buttered microwaveable popcorn honey. To eaches own You have your hair and I have my NAPS..I don’t hate my hair I love it, I just love it more when its easier to damn comb. I ain about to put on a front for no afican culture or to cut ties of slavery and its so call mental authority over black people cause i was born in 1981 and I didn’t witnessed african culture straight from the motherland nor was i appart of the slave trade. I grew up as an african american where you are taught to keep your hair up because it looks nice, I was not told that it was offensive to my roots. I was never told there was anything wrong with being nappy headed either, basic instinct told me my head hurted when it was combed without a perm, so i got one and i haven’t been tender headed since.

  • ms.peaches

Yall talking bout good & bad hair makes me think of the scene in School Daze when they did that lil song & dance # with Tisha Campbell(lol) That baby is just too gorgeous & her hair was probably just washed I hope & pray her mom didn’t put any chemicals in it like gel or whatever cause as you can tell she doesn’t need it like someone said we all have different textures of hair & that may be cause we are all not 100% black you should think about that as well my son is 2 & has the long, straight hair me on the other hand needs a Bantu every now & then LOL!!!

  • MZN

    Well Krysi… I guess you told me…

  • Sharonda

Oh so the baby has a weave? It sure don’t look like it.Well that’s not my baby so they can do whatever.I personally wouldn’t let my child that young rock that, but to each of their own when they get older. So people already figure if the baby have “good” hair before it is born? The world, the world, the world, what are we teaching our kids? Why we feeing kids poison?Aside from that,I think the baby is adorable though.I can’t understand why HAIR of all things is a BIG issue with people, it’s just hair-follicles growing out your head.Plus having long long hair makes you look like little girls anyways, the way I see it.Take care of it and you be ok, naps and all who cares?

  • Sharonda

LOL @ Ms Peaches, exactly, School Daze.I feel ya Krysi.

  • brwnsugga4you

sandra take the post down…this is getting way to serious…i make it a point not to talk about children at all!! …and this baby is just adorable…there is nothing wrong with her hair or her.

  • aqtpie

    That is a gorgeous baby.

  • alove

I have the same grade of hair since loosing my hair due to chemotheraphy used to treat breast cancer. I can go to bed with my hair pulled back and wake up with it curled like I roller set it. It is most definetly the grade that will do the cutest styles without the least bit of effort. She is absolutely beautiful.

  • MUNCHOSGIRL

WOW! YOU GUYS ARE REALLY HEATED ON THIS PICTURE. SHE HAS SOFT HAIR, HER MOTHER OR WHOMEVER WAS PLAYING IN IT. THAT’S WHAT WE DO. SHE’S SUCH A CUTIE.

  • AWhiteP

The baby is cute but to address that hair style she looks as though she should be in the five heartbeats. What the hell was the momma thinking trying an updo on that child

  • hellava10

Oohhh weee. There will always be good hair………………………….whether it comes from your scalp, Yaki #2, California Curl, Jheri, Dark N Lovely, quick weave. This is insane. I just want to tickle that little girl’s feeties!!!!!

  • AlwaysSweet

    tdl74767 Says:

Someone probably did that as a joke, no baby is going to sit for a wash and set. LOL!

Exactly. That is not a roller set. That ain’t nothin but a little water and some grease and somebody slicked the baby’s hair to the side and tossled her naturally wavy hair on top as a joke. I’m sure her mother ain’t actually letting her go out like that. Please stop getting worked up over somebody else’s adorable child.

Those eyes are to die for. Cutie.

While we are on the subject of hair. Growing up I have heard the word nappy used by black people, whether friends, family, strangers, acquaintances, etc., and have used it in the past. And I never knew it was a slur until Imus used it. It does have a negative connotation, but for me, the use was just a ‘fact of life’ term. Some hair is nappy and some isn’t. Anyone consider it a slur?

  • candycane

Why couldnt momma say, I bet this would look cute, ohh it does, I’m going to take a pic. Awww cute pic, let me email this to so and so. Now it’s on the net causing a big debate. I have a son, when he was that age, I would change his clothes, play in his hair. He had nice soft curly hair I would slick it to the side like a toupe, part it down the middle like the 20’s and all kinds of ish just because.
It’s not like she’s outside, she at home on her bed.

  • Krysi – yes the same one

Anybody who has kids know how mothers like to play in their children’s hair….those people did not take this picture that seriously

as far Nappy being considered a slur #73, not in my family’s book of history.

    Cute baby but uh uh!

I finally get to comment the 70+ people adored by my daughter. You guys gave my daughter’s photo more comments then the big time celebs have on this site! Anyway…

I took this pic of her when she was 5 months old. I gave her a bath, lotioned her up, and decided to do something different with her hair. We were chillin in the house and I took pics of her with her new do. I didnt use GEL, PERM, WEAVE, or EXTENSIONS in her hair. All I needed was water and a comb/brush. She had that texture hair that allows for minimal additives/chemicals in order to style it in that way…and she still does have similar hair. She is now 15 mths and has tons of hair for those who said she prob won’t have much hair since she had so much as a baby. She’s not GHETTO or going to be raised ghetto as some people suggested.

Also, I NEVER sent her picture into this site. Someone must have taken the pic from my myspace page and decided to send it in for their own foolish reasons.

For those that don’t know her, her name is Taylor Dior…she is a model and now actress in NYC. She will be in the new movie “NOTORIOUS B.I.G.” this January, playing the role of Biggie’s first daughter. So if you were all so taken by this photo of her, look for her on the big screen.

Thanks for all the positive comments about my daughter and thanks to those who defended her as well. For those who assumed anything about her and me (her mommy), shame on you…buh bye!

  • LAChick

and I agree with MZN, that ole hatin’ good hair vs. bad is just outrageous. Belongs in the same trash heap is light skin vs dark skin. I love my quite easy to work with curly/nappy/frizzy head of hair, I would rather have it than any other.
How cute is that baby, y’all done caused her mama to come up in here! lol

  • PAHairston

The child has beautiful hair, period. How does the Bible put it: A woman’s hair is her crown and glory. Generally speaking, you know the Lord wasn’t talking about black folks, in general, who don’t have but wish they had such “good hair.” But think about it, most black folks hair won’t grow down their backs unless they are growing dreadlocks or dreads, a natural state.

Sandra, let me share a funny joke with your many readers. The Lord was passing out hair in heaven. Each race raced to get in line to get their hair but the black man. The black man was over in the corner sleeping. When he found out about the hair line he told God: God, just ball it up and throw it to me. The rest is history. (Ain’t nothin’ like a good laugh ’cause laughter is the best medicine.) As always, I leave you in peace.

Ummm hair down your back when your hair on your head grows outward and not downward means your hair unless straightened will not be down your back.
I do not indeed know that God was not including me and mine in the crown and glory comment. I think you saying so is hateful and its sad that you and others so hate what you were given by God. BTW, if I pressed my hair, no way I would ever put a perm in it, but if I did, it would be just about the middle of my back. But I don’t like it straight, too boring.

  • Krysi – yes the same one

    @LA Chick

kick rocks okay! everybody ain living in the early and mid 1900’s. I’m proud to be AN AFRICAN AMERICAN, NAPPY-HEADED PERMED AND ALL…and it didn’t take one white/black/purple/red/or green man to give me THAT!

  • Krysi – yes the same one

now that sh*t PAHairston is talking about, I don’t AGREE WITH….that sounds like pure Tom Foolery….say what you want to say about me, but I never insisted that black people had BAD hair I said that their are different textures…I can’t help that you and others were taught to believe that NAPPY = BAD. Everybody wasn’t raised that way. I said the baby had GOOD hair…well that what we call it that doesn’t mean my hair is bad cause its nappy…it just mean that the TERM i use to discribe her TEXTURE of hair.

  • MZN

    LAChick,

I agree with you, and straight hair on BW is so boring! I like anything unique. We stand out as a people, why be ashamed? The problem is a lot of BW can’t take care of their natural hair because they never took the time too! If there were never any perms or pressing combs we would have no choice but to learn, so therefore, it would be easier to take care of.

  • Krysi – yes the same one

okay well i think wearing natural hair is boring….what can you do with it besides wear it the way that it is naturally? I can do all sorts of styles in my hair now that its permed. Why do i have to be ashamed of that??! And the woman who invented perms didn’t ask for the wisdom she was given to invent it….it was just that given to her…..and there are many people of all races that are greatful for the invention, we aren’t the only people who get perms….so I guess every damn body is ashamed white people too for wanting their hair to be curly all the time instead of straight. Mixed people who want their hair straightened because their tired of curls…? Why can’t we just love ourselves enough to try new things and have fun with it? What the hell does all this WE ARE A UNIQUE PEOPLE have to do with it??!!!!

  • PAHairston

No harm intended by my comments on “good hair” but alas, you can’t please all the people all the time, just like you can’t fool all ’em all the time either. Besides, the term “good hair” been around since we got off the ship and was forced to have sex with the masters. I just get so tired of all the fake weaves and wigs. I guess being natural is boring but when you get as old as me, good health is the ultimate ticket. Peace.

  • MZN

You’re right about that PAHairston. I take health over putting any type of chemical in my head, just to be looked at as so called “pretty” and just so that my hair could be “easier to manage.”

Well Krysi, if you don’t see your blackness as being unique, I feel sorry for you…

  • MZN

    On another note,

I like BW with natural hair. TO ME it looks much better, it makes us look younger, we can do more with it. You say you can do more with straight hair, which to me is not true. If BW take the time to come up with creative hairstyles with their natural’s, we would have a broad range of hairstyles to choose from.

That’s just my opinion. I know that not all BW would go natural, and that’s their business. Honestly, they’re not me, so I could care less…

  • Krysi – yes the same one

GIRL GET THE HELL ON WITH THAT….after all the posts I’ve put up, ONE THING EVERYBODY ON THIS DAMN SITE KNOWS IS THAT IM PROUD OF who i am! Are you??? It don’t take me wearing my hair natural for me to love being BLACK, baby, cause I wouldn’t have it any other way! Feel sorry for yourself for thinking that perm is the only thing cancerous and hazardous to your health. If you ever ate out of a teflon pot, ate microwavable popcorn, or microwaved food period you’re in threat of cancer or danger to your health. CUT IT OUT!

  • Krysi – yes the same one

and they did come up with a variety of styes for natural hair BRAIDS, DREADS, FADES, FROS….what else do you expect…besides a SOW in of STRAIGHT HAIR!

  • MZN

Krysi, honey, you need to calm down, I mean really it is not that serious… I just gave my opinion and you’re over there stressing yourself out over nothing… (I don’t know maybe you just got a perm yesterday and it’s causing you to go crazy in the head…he he)

And furthermore speaking of cancerous items, I don’t eat microwave food… I don’t even own a microwave because I know the effects of it on your health…

  • Krysi – yes the same one

yea I guess your going to say you don’t own teflon pots either, or eat out at resturants where they microwave some of their dishes, HAVE MORE FAITH IN GOD! What is written is written.

and i’m cool, but you are assuming a lot of stuff about me, just like you assumed this child was wearing a style to GROWN for her age….I’m a defensive person when it comes to me being proud of who i am….especially when I’m supposed to be ASHAMED just because i wear a damn PERM!

  • MZN

wow….. ok Krysi, whatever you say honey….:)
