Sen. Barack Obama covers the June '08 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Obama took the opportunity to once again denounce misogynistic rap lyrics while saying he respects rap as a form of artistic expression:

I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics but I think the genius of the art form has shifted the culture and helped to desegregate music.

It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves.

Rolling Stone endorsed Obama for president back in March.

NBA Playboys Allen Iverson and Shaquille O'Neal partied at separate clubs last night in the A. Shaq put his Mack down at Uptown while Allen Iverson held down the VIP during Investment Club Night at Luckie Food Lounge.

When a media outlet asked Shaq to talk about the Kobe Bryant controversy, Shaq was happy to oblige, saying, "Hi Kobe, how you doin?"

Stellar performances by Rihanna, Al Green, Maxwell, Alicia Keys and Ne-Yo couldn't draw viewers to the BET Awards on Tuesday night. This year's awards show which honors the best in African-American music, sports and film, only drew 5.8 million viewers according to Nielsen ratings.

Tuesday night's ratings was the smallest in the BET franchise's eight-year run since 2004.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Clifford Harris aka T.I. was not invited to attend the awards this year even though he's in LA filming his MTV reality series. We can speculate as to the reason why. If you recall, T.I. was arrested the day of the BET Hip Hop awards last October in Atlanta.

There are also grumblings about the sentence handed down by the feds to Jacob Arabo aka Jacob The Jeweler, this week. Arabo was given a 30-month sentence in Club Fed for lying to federal investigators about his financial dealings with the BMF crime family. He is to begin serving his sentence on January 15, 2009 - the same month T.I. is required to start serving his 9 months for gun collecting.

The difference between the two sentences is that T.I. cooperated with the feds while Arabo lied his ass off to protect himself. A 5-time felon can have 50 guns in his arsenal, but it's a totally different ball game when you mess around with Uncle Sam's money.

They tried to pull the wool over our eyes but we were too smart for them. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's fake wedding is almost over according to a close friend:

"I give the marriage six months, tops," said a source close to the singer. "I can’t see it lasting."

The insider claims that the reason behind that gloom-and-doom prediction is Nick’s need to do everything for his diva bride. While Mariah likes being waited on hand and foot, that routine won’t work in the long run.

“Nick does whatever Mariah wants him to — he’s like her puppy,” the insider said. “It seems like Nick spends more time in the stores with Mariah’s credit card than he does with Mariah herself. Mariah’s assistants and friends call him ‘Whipped Nick’ behind his back. They have little respect for him because he won’t stand up for himself.” (Source)

The insider didn't say it but we can guess that Nick and Mariah thought up this sham wedding while the two filmed her video, "Bye, Bye", 2 months ago.

The publicity stunt failed miserably when mainstream magazines refused to finance the "real" marriage by buying exclusive rights to the pictures.

Mariah's album E=MC² is also a bust, selling a mere 1 million units in 11 weeks. E=MC² currently sits at #23 and dropping on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

"Oh, God, I forgot my one line again"

"If this director yells "MORE FEELING, BEYONCE", one mo' time!"

"So this is how it feels to be held by a REAL man"

More pics from the set of "Obssessed" starring Idris Elba and Beyonce. I give this movie 2 stars and the movie isn't even out yet. The 2 stars are for Idris Elba who will probably be this movie's only saving grace.

Former NY Giants star Michael Strahan confirmed what we already knew - that he is dating Eddie Murphy's ex-wife Nicole. The two have been going strong for almost a year now.

Is there a celebrity wedding in their future? In an interview with In Touch magazine, the twice-divorced Strahan said, "I could get married again. Could I marry Nicole? Yes! We'll see what happens."

Nicole and Eddie divorced in 2006 after 13 years of marriage.

By now I guess you've heard about the drama surrounding Sen. Barack Obama? I swear these men are so predictable.

Why do you need political assassins like Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly when you have groupie females? It's always a woman who brings these powerful guys to their knees. In the 60s, the FBI tracked Martin Luther King Jr's every move -- even making secret tapes of him having sex with women in his hotel rooms which they then forwarded on to Coretta Scott King who was at home taking care of his kids.

Now the presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama has to defend himself against emails that he says he didn't send to sexy actress Scarlett Johansson. According to Johnasson, she "regularly" offers the politician advice via e-mail. 'Regularly' implies they communicated more than once.

But Obama insisted he sent only one email to Johansson, and that was after her original message was forwarded to him by his assistant Reggie Love. He explained, "She sent one email to Reggie, who forwarded it to me.

"I (wrote) saying, 'Thank you Scarlett for doing what you do', and suddenly we have this email relationship."

Duh! It only takes ONE response to get the gossip ball rolling. If this snowballs out of control, I don't even feel sorry for him. Don't you hate it when married men act confused when they get caught doing stupid sh*t? Why didn't Obama let Reggie email her back? Or better yet, let Michelle email her back?

Scarlett countered saying she was "stunned" when Obama began emailing her.

She said, "Someone like the senator (Obama), who is constantly traveling and constantly 'on', how can he return these personal e-mails?"

R&B Diva Toni Braxton disputed rumors that she's on her death bed by appearing at a BET Awards after party in LA yesterday (6/24). Toni appeared gaunt but well as she waved to well-wishers who heard she was dying from a serious cardiac infection.

Toni canceled the remaining shows in her two-year residency contract at The Flamingo in Las Vegas after being diagnosed with endocarditis probably as a result of surgery to remove her breast implants due to excessive scar tissue.

Troubled British model Naomi Campbell's name was removed from a list of presenters at Nelson Mandela's 90th Birthday celebration concert.

Campbell's name was removed due to a conviction resulting from an arrest at Heathrow Airport. She was recently sentenced to 200 hours of community service.

According to the Times Online, a source close to the concert said it was fair to say that Mandela was behind the decision.

"People were disappointed by what happened," said the source. "In the past she had spoken to Mandela about her anger. It's not the behavior of a charity ambassador." Whatever. Celebrities in London aren't celebrated or rewarded for their bad behavior as they are here.

Actor Will Smith will host the concert on June 27 at Hyde Park in London. Amy Winehouse, Annie Lennox, Leona Lewis, Queen and Simple Minds will perform. All proceeds from the benefit concert will go towards Mandela's charity, 46664. The concert is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Free Mandela concert.

Mandela was held prisoner on Robben Island for 27 years - during which time he was known only by the number 46664. Mandela turns 90 on July 18.
