Jay Z responds to Glastonbury criticism

When Jay z performs at the Glastonbury festival in England this weekend, he will have a lot more on his mind than The Today Show mistaking him for Joe Budden. Jay’s appearance in the Glastonbury festival lineup has drawn heavy criticism from locals and artists alike.

According to festival organizers, this year’s festival has not sold out for the first time in its history. Noel Gallagher — guitarist and chief songwriter for Oasis – thinks the reason is clear: Jay Z.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Gallagher complained back in April. “If you start to break it, then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.”

Jay Z responded in an interview with U.K. radio host Tim Westwood on Wednesday, saying, “At the end of the day, these barriers that they have are only put up to separate us. There is only good music and bad music.”

“The world should be all about mixing culture,” Jay-Z said. “Hip-hop is music in its art form. It should be accepted and respected. It’s all the same thing, it’s just coming from a different perspective.”

But critics insist rap fans would not approve of rock bands appearing at Hip Hop festivals.

Obviously this was a personal attack considering the fact that the email below, allegedly from site owner Felicia Palmer’s “cheating boyfriend” was posted right in the center of the site. The text reads, “Have fun with your cheating n*gger of a boyfriend.” Does Felicia’s husband know she has a boyfriend?

Plastic surgeon for Kanye’s mother busted for DUI

The plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West’s mother was busted early today for driving under the influence according to California Highway patrol.

Jan Adams, 54, was stopped by California Highway Patrol officers at about 2:40 a.m. after motorists saw him driving a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 680 near Gold Hill Road in the Benicia area, said CHP Officer Craig Kuehl.

CHP officers smelled alcohol on Adams’ breath and arrested him for suspicion of drunk driving and driving with a suspended license. Adams’ driver’s license was suspended after a previous drunk driving conviction.

In November, Adams operated on West’s mother, Donda West, 58, performing liposuction and breast implant surgery. He sent West home without adequate aftercare and she died a day later of respiratory and cardiac arrest.

The Los Angeles coroner concluded that West had heart disease and clogged coronary arteries which contributed to her death. The surgeon’s license to practice medicine expired Wednesday because he allegedly failed to pay child support, according to records with the California Medical Board.

Adams came to prominence when Oprah Winfrey featured him on her nationally syndicated talk show. (Source)

Fantasia dumped by management company?

According to EW.com, former American Idol winner Fantasia was unceremoniously dumped by her management company, 19 Management, today.

The reason for the split, according to sources, is that age-old saw “creative differences.” However, like many other Idol contestants, Fantasia remains on the label 19 Recordings and will continue to share music sales profits with the company.

A rep for 19 declined to comment.

A man criticizes comedian Niecy Nash for joking about Angelina Jolie and Madonna going to Africa to adopt black kids.

He also takes a shot at BET for the overall ghetto atmosphere of the show. Well, he does have a point about the racist jokes and the horrible performances. We need to do better.

Barack Obama Covers Rolling Stone Magazine

Sen. Barack Obama covers the June ’08 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Obama took the opportunity to once again denounce misogynistic rap lyrics while saying he respects rap as a form of artistic expression:

I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics but I think the genius of the art form has shifted the culture and helped to desegregate music.

It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves.

Rolling Stone endorsed Obama for president back in March.
