I'm really warming up to Solange. I can't believe I used to diss her. Solange is not at all like her sister. She's personable and friendly. She seems to have an easy going free spirit - and she shows love to the paparazzi, so she gets points from me for that.

Solange was spotted in London today wearing a Fendi bag and trendy Christian Louboutin pumps. Solange's album Sol-Angel and The Hadley Street Dreams drops on August 26. Solange was named as the new ambassador for Armani Jeans.

"Armani Jeans expresses my vision of a young, independent, casual lifestyle with a strong and cool, fashion sensibility. Solange epitomises this style perfectly and brings to it that swing so evident in her new single, I Decided," said Armani in a press release.

Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor is in critical condition on life support, according to online reports. Taylor, 75, had been plagued with health problems for years.

The star was diagnosed with pneumonia and congestive heart failure - the latter is a cardiac condition which causes the lungs to fill with foamy fluid restricting blood flow into the heart. This condition makes it very difficult for some patients to breathe without mechanical assistance.

The British actress was the biggest star in the world in her heyday. Taylor was made an honorary dame by the Queen of England. (Source)

Monica celebrated the premiere of her reality series on Peachtree TV entitled "The Single: Monica". Keyshia Cole was among the stars in the house. Of course both ladies styles were right on point.

Mo is wearing a D&G skirt matched perfectly with a Diane Von Furstenburg blouse. Her outfit is completed by a Prada ruffled bag and of course the high heel pumps are Christian Louboutin (what else?)

KeyCo looks too cute in her causal top and jeans.

Fashion icon Rihanna looking pretty as a picture on her way to see BFF Chris Brown perform at the Nokia Theater in NYC yesterday. The bag she's wearing is a Louis Vuitton City bag in Epi leather. That particular piece set RiRi back almost $1,600.

By the way, Rihanna keeps breaking records! The Barbadian beauty becomes the fourth star in Billboard history to have two concurrent hits in the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart! "Take a Bow" sits at #2 and "Disturbia" jumps 11 spots to #4!

"Real Housewives of NY" was my show! I might even buy the entire season on DVD - it was that good! The 'wives' of NY were real. They weren't afraid to show their human side and emotions. I could identify with them even though our lives were worlds apart.

Not so with "Real Housewives of Atlanta" which premiered on BRAVO network last night. I missed the premiere, but loyal reader Morgan Mathews says the show was "horrible". I can only imagine what the first episode was like. Atlanta sisters are unlike any I've encountered anywhere else.

The sisters on 'Real Atlanta' were probably more concerned with showing their perfect homes, cars and weave, rather than showing their flaws. I'm sure I won't identify with any of these "real" sisters.

    Hi Sandra:

I couldn't WAIT for you to post about that horrible show last night. I can NOT believe the BRAVO couldn't find any other beautiful, intelligent, classy women to represent Atlanta. WOW!!!!! I think the show would be a better fit for another network and I am sure there will be viewers...but I surely hope BRAVO doesn't expect the same ratings they received from The Real Housewives of Orange County & The Real Housewives of New York.

If I had to vote .......DeShawn Snow was DEFINITELY a beautiful person. Her internal humble spirit came through like a light!

Have a great day & I can't to see what you and other viewers have to say.

Ludacris attended the HEPA luncheon in Beverly Hills yesterday. Luda didn't seem affected by all the hooplah surrounding Sen. Barack Obama denouncing his lyrics. Luda called himself writing a song in support of the presidential hopeful. But all he got for his troubles was condemnation from Obama's camp for calling one of the most recognizable white women in America, a bitch.

Monica celebrated the premiere of her new reality show The Single: Monica which airs August 5th on Peachtree TV. Yung Joc and Trey were just two of the stars in the house to support Mo. More pics latah!

I hear that College Hill Atlanta's Shavon and Dorion made a special announcement at Mo's party last night! I wonder what it was? :)

I'm told this is the cover art for LL Cool J's upcoming CD Exit 13. The album is due to drop on August 26. It took me all of 27 seconds to process the fact that there's a gigantic microphone rammed into the asphalt.

But where's LL Cool J? Is it a good marketing idea to release an LL Cool J album without a steamy pic of LL's ripped abs?

The fast single off Exit 13 is "Baby" featuring Dream. Click here to watch the music vid.

No doubt about it: pseudo-singer Cassie owes her career to the Stunt Meister, Sean Combs. All that publicity stunt hype has paved the way for the release of Cassie's new single featuring Lil' Wayne entitled "Official Girl".

I'm pouring out a little liquor for the brain cells I lost while listening to this hot steaming garbage. I should have known better: the girl can't sing a lick AND Lil' Wayne is on it. Double strike!

Jacob the Jeweler, real name Jacob Arabo, will report to a federal prison in January to begin serving his 30-month sentence for money laundering and other federal offenses. But until then, Jacob is calling in all favors and moneys owed by his celebrities friends.

Jacob doesn't have much time, so he's suing customers who fail to ante up the cash they owe for jewels they bought but never paid for. One such customer is rapper/producer Wyclef Jean whom Jacob says owes him approximately $300,000 in unpaid jewelry purchases.

In a lawsuit filed in a Manhattan court Tuesday (7/29), Jacob and Company Incorporated claims between March 2002 and January 2006, the 35-year-old musician purchased $765,100 worth of assorted ornaments, including several watches, but only paid half of the price. Jean apparently still owes the company $319,680 despite "repeated demands for payment."

At least we know Wyclef's bling is the real deal.

Not all rappers are dumb as doorknobs. Rapper Ludacris, real name Chris Bridges, knew exactly what he was doing when he called Sen. Hillary Clinton the B-word on his new track in support of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

"Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant," declared Luda on the track titled "Politics: Obama is Here" As you can imagine, the track is causing quite a commotion in the offices with the high glass ceilings.

Obama's camp was swift to denounce the lyrics contained in the song. But Luda knew that would happen. I'm sure he counted on the media to jump all over the lyrics -- which they did. Mind you, these are the same misogynistic lyrics rappers have been using to describe their Nubian sisters for at least 3 decades.

"I hope Senator Obama has the presence of mind to denounce and distance himself from Ludacris," Sen. Clinton's former national finance co-chair, Yashar Hedayat wrote in an email to the Huffington Post.

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton released a tersely worded statement condemning Ludacris and all rappers like him who use offensive language under the guise of "artistic expression":

"As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn't want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics."

Ashamed? No. Paid? Yes. After all, who cares about mothers and children when it comes to the pursuit of the almighty dollar.

Oh, and expect Luda's publicist to issue a carefully worded prepared statement apologizing for his "unintended" offensive lyrics in 5...4....3...2...

Comments Off on Monica, Still Standing: Interview

Fellow celebrity blogger Style Razzi hipped me to an exclusive Monica interview conducted by StraightFromTheA.com's ATLien, who is a member of this community. Monica touches on her life as a mother and soon-to-be-wife and she talks about the night her baby daddy Rocko proposed to her.

But Mo had a few words to say about a message left on a blogger's voicemail that was quickly turned into a video viral sensation (the video received 25,000 views and sparked interest from media types like Wendy Williams who wants Mo on her new TV show).

Wow…a video? I had no idea it was THAT serious! It’s not that I even care that it was posted on all those sites cause I don’t. I said what I said because I felt that the truth had to be told. No matter how small the lie. I reached out because I wanted to clear up any misconceptions about my relationship with Beyonce. Any time you can stop a lie you do yourself a favor by speaking the truth.

Monica stated that she personally did not even see the original post that implied she was beefing with Beyonce…but her family and friends notified her about it. For the record, she didn’t even mention Beyonce’s name but a few bloggers simply speculated that she was speaking of her. READ MORE...

This Rick Ross lying mess has crossed over to the mainstream with some national media types turning to their black counterparts to break through the wall of confusion.

The National Public Radio reached out to Jon Caramanica, music writer for The NY Times to better explain why a black man is denying his positive past.

It's kind of sad listening to the black guy explaining to the white woman why the black community has a problem with a black man holding down a steady job:

"First, there's a historically fraught relationship between the African American community and the police.. And I believe there's some skepticism toward people who represent the law." says Caramanica. Jon C. goes on to explain that Rick Ross "positioned himself as someone moving in the shadows of the law [and his past history as a corrections officer] throws the whole idea of authenticity into light"

This whole thing is really embarrassing -- not just for Rick Ross, but for those of us who have to explain to our white friends who simply don't get the whole "you ain't a thug unless you have a criminal record" mentality.

I just had a long conversation with a friend who stated quite frankly that she plans to "try" Barack Obama when he slides through the ATL. Oh, she doesn't mean now - she means "after he becomes president".

You see, my friend knows what all the successful jump-offs know: that a powerful man is a pu$$y magnet - and no man is that disciplined to turn all those free gifts down.

My friend says Obama is on guard right now because he has a goal and a mission to accomplish. But once that mission is accomplished -- oh, it's on! Obama will let his guard down and there will be another Monica Lewinsky situation. Maybe not in the White house - but it's going down somewhere! And what Michelle doesn't know won't hurt her! :)

As you know, British singer Amy Winehouse, 24, was rushed to a London hospital on Monday after she passed out from what was thought to be alcohol poisoning. Now Amy's dad tells MTV that his daughter's drink was spiked with ecstasy. Her dad has vowed to find the culprit who did this to his daughter Amy.

Paparazzi who depend on Amy to keep food on their table, snapped pics of a medical courier delivering supplies to Amy's home today. The box is marked 'URGENT BLOOD', but it is highly unlikely that Amy is receiving blood transfusions at home.

It's more likely that Amy's drug rehab doctor (or a judge) has ordered regular drug testing on Amy in an effort to save her from herself. I'm speculating here, but the courier is probably at the house to pick up blood samples or urine and ferry them to a lab for testing.

Fish pedicures may seem like a cute idea in a culture where everyone is on the lookout for the next fad or trend. But this newest fad could be dangerous for your health. I would advise against this procedure because it could lead to nasty fungal infections or worse.

MRSA and other germs thrive in warm, wet environments. You don't need fish to eat scales off your feet. A foot file or $10 PedEgg after you shower will do the trick. This guy is simply using a gimmick to make a fast buck.

Fish pedicures are creating something of a splash in the D.C. area, where a northern Virginia spa has been offering them for the past four months. John Ho, who runs the Yvonne Hair and Nails salon with his wife, Yvonne Le, said 5,000 people have taken the plunge so far.

"This is a good treatment for everyone who likes to have nice feet," Ho said.

He said he wanted to come up with something unique while finding a replacement for pedicures that use razors to scrape off dead skin. The razors have fallen out of favor with state regulators because of concerns about whether they're sanitary.

Chris Brown and Ne-Yo were commissioned by Wrigleys company to remake their famous Wrigleys gum jingles. We now know that CB's hit song "Forever" is a cleverly disguised jingle. The song - which is very wack, by the way -- sits at #3 on the Billboard charts. Which goes to show you can't always account for good taste. "Double your pleasure/double your fun," the R&B singer croons in the chorus. Did I mention the song is very lame?

Chris Brown makes Ne-Yo look like a dwarf. Ne-Yo's my dude though. I love his sense of style.

Kim Kardashian is feeling herself while shopping in Sherman Oaks last week. KK once complained to a friend how frequently she checks to make sure her appliances are inflated properly. I can just imagine how annoying that can be.

Michelle Obama - the brains behind the Barack Obama campaign machine -- is always impeccably dressed and elegantly appointed when she steps out. So it is no surprise that she tops Vanity Fair's 2008 Best Dressed list - a major achievement for a non-celebrity. VF even referred to Michelle as "our commander-in-sheath." That means they're really smitten with her.

But get this: rapper Knaye West also made the Best Dressed list on the male side (!) How did he make anyone's best dressed list, I ask? Were the judges drunk when they made their selections? Vanity Fair might as well name Pharrell Williams and T.I. to the best dressed list if Knaye made the list.

Some people think they're entitled just because they are celebrities. Dre 3K always has a pompous attitude, so I'm not surprised to read the following story about A3K gypping a hard working waiter out of a tip. I'm sure A3K knows that most waiters work for tips only - which is probably why he didn't leave one. Maybe A3K felt the service wasn't worthy of a tip. So why write "thanks!" at the top of the receipt?

Atlanta waiter Matt Moore claims that he went out of his way to hook Andre up with some vegan dishes after the rapper visited the restaurant he works in — even though it is non-vegan. Apparently, that effort wasn’t enough and Andre decided to complain anyways — getting his bill reduced in the process. At the end of the meal, the low-baller left a $0 tip and walked away. Classy.

What’s a guy to do? eBay! Moore was understandably pissed and threw his story up on the auction site, along with a description of the injustice and the offending receipt. “The chef had tried to please them with original dishes and took time out of the busy dinner to customize a meal for them,” he wrote. "Despite the spot-on service and super-catered food, they felt the need to leave me no money. I had nothing to do with the food, yet he stiffed me."

Looks like Matt made his tip back. The auction for the receipt ended yesterday with bidding topping out at $14.50.

Ha Ha! $14.50 for an authentic A3K autograph. That's $14.49 more than I would have paid for it! :)

Actor Jon Voight has nothing nice to say about Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama. Voight - who is best known as Angelina Jolie's estranged father - accused Obama of "sowing socialist seeds in young people."

I had no idea what he meant by that. But rather than dismiss the old geezer, I read on because I figured I might learn something.

In an op-ed piece for the Washington Times, Voight wrote:

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

Sounds to me like the Republicans are panicking now that John McCain's mental condition is public knowledge.

The only other thing I took away from that rambling rhetoric was this: the democratic party is a propaganda machine that's brainwashing us blacks into worshiping a God-like figure in Obama.

Lol, I'm trying to picture Obama as a God-like figure, but I can't do it without laughing. :)

LL Cool J is MTV's "52 Bands/52 Weeks" featured artist for the week of July 28. Eleven hours of LL Cool J video clips will be integrated into MTV programming the entire week. LL Cool J on-air promotions can be seen on MTV all throughout the week of July 28.

Thanks to Allie Wester at Fanscape for the video!

LL will be one of my featured Morning Woods tomorrow. So check back in the AM!

American Idol winner Jordin Sparks let it slip that she has a major crush on singer Chris Brown. Jordin said she was sweating CB hard on the set of "No Air" -- until Rihanna showed up and shut her down. Now Jordin is waiting for Rihanna to dump Chris so she can have Rihanna's leftovers.

But little does she know that Rihanna doesn't have him on lock either. Chris is Tina's man!

"Chris is so hot. I had a crush on him for a couple of years and, well, I still do. Rihanna came to the video shoot. I didn't know they were dating - they were doing the 'just good friends' thing in the media - and I thought 'Oooh, maybe I have a chance'. But it's not to be. They are a sweet couple. I wish them all the best". (Source)
