Erykah Badu pregnant by Jay Electronica
I knew it! I could tell by the way Erykah Badu looked so complete whenever she was around her protege, Jay Electronica. I profiled the amazing wordsmith back in January of this year. I knew he was more than just her protege by the look in his eyes when he was around her. I saw that same lost-in-love look in Andre Benjamin’s eyes when I snapped a photo of them at a Sol Fusion party back in the 1997.
“We just friends,” mumbled Dre of the then unknown Erykah Badu. But I could tell he was lying. The photo I took that night of the couple made the cover of Ebony magazine’s Feb. 1998 issue on 10 Hottest Couples. By then Erykah was an established star in her own right and had a son by Benjamin.
It seems Erykah is drawn to kindred spirits whose paths in life are preordained. Erykah’s other baby daddies are West Coast rapper The D.O.C., and now Jay E. More evidence that Jay E is destined for greatness. Congrats to the happy couple!

Let’s not kid ourselves here, studies show that kids who grow up in stable and healthy two parent homes have a great advantage over kids who grow up in a stable and healthy one parent home. I don’t know how stable a 3 different baby daddies home can be, how can she effectively co-parent with all the involved men? It must be hard trying to raise your children and instill the values of both parents when they’re actually 4 people involved, which seems like too many to me.
I wonder how 7 feels, seeing his mom laying up (kids are perceptive) with different men. Even if she doesn’t bring the men inside her home, she has the evidence in her other children. Will he grow up and think commitment isn’t necessary in relationships? What about Puma? She’s a girl right? I agree with you here intense, all two parent homes aren’t stable or healthy, hell some kids from stable and healthy single parent homes fare better than kids coming from two parent homes. Hell Paris Hilton is one of the more famous poster childred of fugged up issue from a two parent home.

Evidence shows (her two and alleged third kids) that Erykah Badu is no different from Erica Wright who liked to express herself sexually to multiple men at Grambling State. Maybe its the effect that growing up in a single parent home had on her. I never called her a hoe… but I agree she has hoe-like tendencies.

It might take a village, but those kids have to live one place primarily and snatch crumbs from that primary source as well. You should do what my mother did on the days she couldn’t stand us, run away and come back when your good and ready.

I have two children by two differant fathers and like another poster said if I have another one there will be 3 daddys. I was ashamed when I got pregnant the second time and didn’t tell anyone for 3 months other than the father and my 12 year old daughter. The first person I told was my cousin’s girlfriend who is now his wife and she said, “What the hell are you ashamed of? You are a grown ass 35 year old woman who who has accomplished big things and takes good care of the child you have.” There is no way she could know how much I needed to hear that. Yes I would have loved to be married, but dammit I have not wanted to marry anyone who wanted to marry me and the people I wanted to marry didn’t want to marry me. Does that mean I’m not allowed to have children ever? If I had Erykah’s money I’d have 10 kids by now. I love making babies and I love is not a strong enough word to descibe what I feel for my children. I don’t know what Erykah’s reason is for all the differant fathers, but we all have our own story. As long as they are being raised properly what else can we do? Until we can mend this riff between black men and black women that makes us not want to settle down with each other this is what you get. Hell my cousin and his wife were together for over 10 years before he got the courage to marry her and she was raising his kids from a previous relationship and everything. You just never know what the story is behind people’s decisions.

some women get a kick out of shaming other women when they have had misfortune with men, especially black women-if they are married they say “husband” more than they say his real name or theirs for that matter, if they are with the father of their child they brag about it to women who are not with their baby daddies as if it’s an accomplishment that the other woman couldn’t achieve, they constantly say dumb sh#t liek he looks just like his daddy, he only listens to his daddy, her daddy buys her everything etc. Yall know exactly what I am talking about

My kids have different fathers as well. I was with my daughter’s father from the time I was 15 until I was 18. He is a great dad now but it was a rocky road getting there. I was with my son’s father from the time I was 20 until 23. I married him at 21 right before my son was born and it was the most emotional mentally abusive relationship I have ever been in. I know that I can only afford 2 kids that is why I choose not to have anymore. I get lumped into categories all the time so I know exactly how you felt when you found out you were pregnant. The teenage mom stereotypes are even harder to take because I do not fit the mold.
If you are taking care of your kids and can financially support them , damn the rest (oops sorry shunda)
a husband would be the ideal situation, but it’s not necessarily the reality for everybody & you can’t bank your happiness (yes most black women love being mothers) on if & when a man comes, stays, or one day marries you.

I have two kids by two different men. My oldest daughter father does nothing for her but my second daughter father and I have been together since my oldest since she was 6 months and that is who she calls DADDY!! But I make sure that she knows about her real father and his people. I never talk down to her about him because I don’t want her to grow up thinking all men end up like her biological did is. With that being said I understand where IntenseMocha was coming from minus the curse words. Instead of downing a person about their decision in life understand the situation cause life has thrown all of us a curveball at one point in time. You live and you learn!

Married of not if a man/ husband is going to cheat then he will do it with or without papers. FIRST as a Black Women I don’t agree with the hate we show towards one another! So my comment is not geared towards that. More so disappointment on how we allow ourselves to be treated.
Married don’t mean people are staying together forever these days. Maybe if we took the time to sit our ass down & learn each other more (man & woman), we could avoid half of these problems. You can be with someone for YEARS & still not know them. I’m sure at least once we all have dealt with someone that either we really didn’t know like we thought we did or after the sex was over, there was relly nothing more you had in common with that individual.
We get so caught up in the moment, that we REFUSE to see the signs even when it’s slipping us dead in the damn face! We’re only human & we aren’t designed to know everything, that’s why we make mistakes. But LEARN from them.
Women we have to stop allowing ourselves to be treated any type of way. I know, we’re all perfect let us tell it. But even those of us with “HIGH STANDARDS” have allowed at least one individual to make us lower them.
Men wouldn’t deal with half of the things we deal with or allow. Key word “MEN” not boys.

What does it say for our communities, and hat kind of impression does it put upon women who admire Ms. Badu? F*** who’s paying for the upkeep of the little bastard. That little bastard will grow up withthe same morals as mommy, and eventually become a memebr of society where their morals will come to play and so on and so forth. Those of you who know where I’m coming from know what I’m talking about. Those of you who don’t, go ask someone.
If a single woman wants a child so badly and can take care of one by herself why not adopt? It takes a Tom Cruise, Michelle Phieffer, or a Steven Spielberg to give abandoned black babies a chance. Are there any black celebrities that have adopted a black child (or adopted at all)?
You don’t have to be rich or married to adopt, you just have to have a real love to share.
I like Erykah as an artist and enlighted spirit, but sistahgirl should definitely consider birth control. If this rumor is true, all of her kids will have different fathers. C’mon Erykah, slow your roll sis and use your common sense…you ain’t got to have a kid by every dude you lay up with.
