Da Brat sentenced to three years, but she will serve only 12 months

According to online reports, rapper Da Brat, real name Shawntae Harris, was sentenced to three years in prison today. But as I wrote earlier, Brat will only serve 12 months of the three year sentence. I know Brat’s girlfriend is weak unless she can convince another baller Dom to pay her bills.

A DeKalb County judge sentenced rapper Da Brat to three years in prison Friday for striking a woman with a rum bottle at an Atlanta-area nightclub.

Superior Court Judge Gail Flake also sentenced the rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service.

About six members of Harris’s family wept when a sheriff’s deputy took her into custody.

“I love y’all,” Harris, 34, said as she was led out of the courtroom.

“We love you too” the relatives replied in unison.

Harris entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault.

The victim, a waitress at the club, had to be hospitalized after being struck by Harris, and Flake said the woman suffered permanent facial scarring. (Source)

Yeah…..This is a sad case of acting before thinking. But this jail term may be saving her life. Because if she didn’t learn this lesson now, she may have run up on the wrong person and it could have been the end. At least this way she can start over………….

Every prison sentence that is handed out in the entertainment industry will reflect poorly on TI. I know he has to be hating this. She gets three years for assault and has to turn herself in immediately and TI gets one year for being a felon with an arsenal and gets to turn himself in to serve his time when he feels like it. How on earth did he get that sweet deal? As for Brat, hopefully her time in the pokey will help her grow up.

The crazy thing about it is the girl was doing her job. You know if people are fighting in the club the bouncers come quick and will deal with the situation. But Da Brat was probably in VIP and the bouncers instead of dealing with the situation while it was still verbal let is escalate. Even though I don’t think its the clubs fault, it kinda is in this situation cause the chick was working for them.

If you would have read the rest of the incident, it said the victim received “permanent facial scarring.” So hell yeah, she needs to do time for this. Brat probably didn’t just hit the woman with the bottle, instead, she obviously took the bottle and busted it against the table or something first, then cut the woman in the face. That’s especially victious! Why you trying to permanently disfigure someone over a disagreement…disagreements come and on, but that lady gotta look at her face everyday. I’m sorry, i’m going with the prosecution on this one. If the girl would have been simply hit with the bottles and her feelings got hurt and she got her azz whooped and embarrassed, then that’s another story, but no, she seriously injured this woman resulting in facial scars, and women let’s get real, when it comes to our face, that’s out livelihood, she damn near killed this women if you look at it in these terms….

In any aggravated assult case the victim will have permanent scars if not physical usually mental.The fact remains the same,3 years is alot of time for a club fight.You dont know what happened to escalate the melee to the point of the bottle getting used.Trust, if Brat broke the bottle then stabed her like you stated that would have been something altogether different(drama queen?)It could have been self-defense,it could have been alot of things.Im sure Brat didnt go to that club that night saying Im gonna hit this particular person over the head with a bottle and cause permanent scarring. Da Brat had her chances. How many times can a judge let her get away with assaulting people? What you don’t know is that another one of her victims won a $120,000 judgment against her, a Buckhead nightclub, Jermaine Dupri, the record label and the security.

Everybody had to pay out of their pockets for her inability to control her anger. Then she defaulted on paying her share of the judgment which was only $20,000!

T.I. was a serious gun collector, Bird. There’s a really big difference. He wasn’t out there busin’ caps in nobody’s ass. His collection was carefully locked away in a very unique safe with a complex locking mechanism. the safe itself was tucked away in the back of his walk-in closet. I knew about Brat’s past, so the three years doesn’t surprise me. In fact it should be more. This is a person who obviously thinks she’s above the law by the company she keeps. The fact of the matter is she is NOT. She is a has been and if it wasn’t for Mariah toting her around and JD putting her in remixes her dull star woud have completed faded.
