I received a few emails tonight from readers alerting me to the fact that this track appeared on 2Pac’s posthumous album, Pac’s Life, released in 2006. Just a few minutes ago, I spoke with Manny Halley, Keyshia’s manager who explained that the song was never released as a single. Here’s what he said:
“It was never a single. It was just a album cut that we did for him… We didn’t want to lose a hit record. We’re going to drop all the big singles with it, but we wanted to keep 2Pac and Keyshia because they never made it a single. So we made it a single.”

Normally I don’t get this excited over new music, but we’re talking about Keyshia Cole and the legendary 2Pac Shakur! The single is titled “Play Ya Cards Right” and it is HAWT!

Keyshia will shoot the music video for her new single in L.A. tomorrow. Then she jets back to Atlanta just in time to attend her star-studded 27th birthday party on October 15 and the BET Hip Hop Awards on Oct. 18 at the Atlanta Civic Center.

Pac never sounds dated its like he was before his time him and Big! this song is nice, however i dont believe it will be a single after they see responses from people who’ve heard this song years ago! its a good album track tho! she needs to put that “Silent Night” as a bonus track or something! it sends chills thru my body i forget its a X-mas song.

yea i can see that in her, but i hope she grows out of it, she has a lot of issues that she had to deal with, and sometimes it’s that anger and guilt that makes you act a certain way, and the funny thing is you really don’t know that’s the real problem. I hope she learns to deal with it and move on, and be a happier person.
Ms. Keyshia if you by any chance read Sandra’s blog PLEASE PLEASE think about doing a remake (if possible) to the Emotions song “Don’t Ask My Neighbor.” I heard that old school jam on 104.1 last night and for some reason thought “dang, Keyshia Cole could do a tight remake of this song with Eve or Amina spitting a verse.
Oh and I LOVE the single but I LOVE KEYSHIA COLE as an artist; no matter what; flaws and all. Keyshia has her flaws but who doesn’t? I am all flawed up and down. Anytime I can feel sincerity in an artist and they put themselves out there, in what they say through their music, then I am a fan. Like MJB said, Take Me As I AM. Too many times we never see the real artist; it’s a facade but understandable.
We all know Beyonce has issues like the rest of us but she doesn’t let any of her flaws show (not intentionally, she fell on her butt but not on purpose) and that’s her prerogative. This is not a diss to B because I know that she is a private person who protects her privacy as she has a right to do; just a comparison. My illustration is that I tend to gravitate more toward artist who aren’t afraid to say yes I am a celebrity/star but “girl, me too.” No, I don’t need or want to know all of your business but it’s nice to know that I could/can relate.
MJB, Lady T and Jill Scott are my faves and KCole is in there!
